What just happened!? Killed by station for no reason?

So I just get to the station to turn in Military Intelligence for the new CG. (playing in open) Keep in mind I had none on me, I had just arrived. Begin to approach station, ask for docking clearance and suddenly a message flashes that I got a bounty for killing someone. Even though I did no such thing. I didn't even have any pips to weapons. Station fires on me and I'm dead in 0.5 seconds.

What the hell just happened? Did I get ganked or something? It all went so quickly I don't even know. Thoughts?

You were speeding.

An eagle with 10% hull plowed in to you and died.

Station killed you because you were speeding and killed someone.

Do not speed at stations in Open.

Guessing that you were speeding and a small ship collided with you and then exploded - that would get you a bounty and then destroyed by the station.

You probably rammed some one dead. Its common for some people to hang around CG stations and fly in front of other players => they get rammed and die and other player doing over 100 will get wanted and killed by station because you rammed someone to death. Never fly over 100 in CG station instance while in open. Or you rammed npc to death, but you rammed something to death and only way to e safe is to fly under 100 speed limit.

Yeah I was spinning out of a boost to get to the other side of the station, but I didn't even think there was anyone around me. Glanced at my radar but I guess I need to be more careful. Poor Eagle.

Thanks for the help everyone. <3

Not poor eagle.

The eagle was griefing players. They lose ~2k and you lose millions.

I'd be interested to know how it has been determined that the rammed ship was an Eagle with 10% hull remaining....

OH Christ. Now I have a 6 day bounty in that system. Can I clear it or am I now f'ed for the rest of the CG? If so, what a colossal waste of my time.

It might of been a bug.

So now that I have a 6D, 6K, bounty will I just get blown away if I try to go back to that station? Am I screwed for the entire CG?

It was a clue that "a" ship, possibly small, not necessarily a player, might have been in collision with the OP. An Eagle with 10% hull remaining seems rather specific.

Of course the chances that a full shield + full HP NPC (as they usually are around stations) might collid with the back of your ship and blow up in one go aren't exactly 0%, they're still rather slim. On the other hand, CGs always have a pretty high number of independent speed limit enforcement CMDRs who will, usually in a heavily damaged small ship, make sure pilots breaking the speed limit are caught.

It's a CG.

Were we in the position to have an adjudication, I would offer anyone 100-1 odds with RL cash that it was indeed a player, in an Eagle, stripped down to D-grade everything except A-grade thrusters, no shield, in silent, previously station-wall-rammed or shot by buddy down to 1-10% hull, waiting for the OP.

No I wasn't there and no it isn't something I would do but that is how it's done.

Can't be sure of course. But 100-1? Yeah, I'd take that bet.
