I've been having a lot of trouble with my Rift on Elite. With all other games / demos, my Rift works perfectly however with Elite I have the following problem.

When sat still inside the station it is fine. But as soon as I star flying the Rift drifts to either the right or the left. I can reorientate it with the hotkey, but it will drift again within a few minutes.

It is even worse in supercruise and hyperspace. It will drift at least 10 to 20 degree, over a 5 minute or less period.

I have reconfigured the Rift using the SDK, but that hasn't helped.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I have had the same issue. The drift in Elite is quite bad. My Rift is calibrated correctly and does not drift significantly in any other application. However, in Elite I have to recenter every minute or so.

Hmm. My guess is they might not use the compass augmentation for the headtracking yet. Or I might be wrong because for me, drift was reduced after I did a recalibration...

I've noticed that on the Rift, the colours are a bit pasty, as though the brightness is too high.

I used to have this problem in Alpha 1.1 when the Rift was set to a resolution of 1920x1080. However the colours were much richer when set to 1920x1200.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I have noticed this, but I didn't pay too much attention to it, as it didn't bug me enough.....but yeah it is there. A Gamma slider would be nice......anyway...carry on.

Yep I get plenty of drift too.

I have reset bound to a voice command so I just say 'reset' every minute or so.

Ok thanks. For some reason I'm pretty sensitive to this, and I find it significantly breaks immersion and the sense of presence for me.

I use the rift everyday with ED and can honestly say I've never had any drift... Sometimes the centre is off when I first put it on but a quick reset and I'm good to go ...

Mine has been drifting since in E: D since the first alpha - I have never had the drift issue in any other games.

It was pretty bad and I had to reset my view every half a minute.
As a result, I've been sticking to TrackIR and haven't used the Rift in E: D for months.

I can confirm, I have had drift issues. Further more, the reset orientation key only works at combat speeds. This bug has been reported.

Please remember that the Oculus DK1 is a 'development kit'. This means we should not be expecting E: D to support it flawlessly.

Frontier's time is best spent improving support for the final Oculus product.
I am sorry to say, but the DK1 that we own; is already redundant. :(

It depends if the issue is down to the DK1 or Frontier's code. If if is their code the same issue could affect the DK2 and CV1.

Oculus and Elite 1st time experience.

I played elite on the BBC many years ago when I too was a 8 bit coder, Decided to opt in for the premium beta a few days ago and today for the first time plugged in my OR unit. Words can't describe how impressed I am :D
