Changing Modules Happens Too Fast

By this logic ship transfers should be instant. Ships are supposed to be transfered by bulk freighters, this has been stated multiple times by the developers. There are no bulk freighter models in the game. Therefore, by your argument should only take time if you see the mechanic of it then ship transfers should be instant.

You really need to stop trying to use terms you don't understand.

What I was presenting was argumentum ad temperantiam, an informal fallacy where one argues that the opponent has to accept a compromise between two positions created by the giving the argument.

But saying straw man and ad hominem are SOOOO COOOL SENPAI [hehe]

It's funny that one civics high school course with a teacher who tested us repeatedly logical fallacies, both formal and informal would still affect me so years later. Just seeing people incorrectly use the term straw man irritates me to no end, it's a informal fallacy but that doesn't mean every informal fallacy is a straw man. There are hundreds of informal fallacies and these are sub-categorized under what logical underpinnings they use.

I'm merely pointing out that I know you and he are being dishonest. Even that line right there is clearly intended to deceive. You cannot expect anything resembling a reasonable conversation when you misrepresent yourself like that.

You also forgot the "uwu".

Look I'll ask you again please STOP making personal attacks, attacking people personally, and attacking people's personal motives. It is not acceptable behavior.

The reason it's still a strawman is that the argument you're attacking with your chosen fallacy is a false one, constructed to be easier to attack than the actual arguments that have been presented (mostly in the Threadnaughts). You constructed a strawman, and then used another fallacy to attack it. To further compile your errors, the strawman is based on a false equivalency: travel time is an integral part of the game's balance, with an entire module built around it, outfitting time is not, therefore they are not equivalent.

And yet, by the argument I presented a timed transfer is acceptable. Why? Well, let's look at what I asked for: the ability to keep playing while the timer ran, and the ability to queue multiples to run at the same time. Both of these are satisfied with timed transfer: I can keep playing while the transfer is happening, and I can order all of my ships to transfer at the same time. Conditions satisfied. Being able to order them remotely would be icing on the cake. So after all that deception, your argument is still weak because I can still present a condition that makes both timed outfitting and timed transfers theoretically acceptable.

See, this is much better than simply saying, "Nah man, that's a straw man." Thanks for playing Who's Line Is It Anyway, where it's all made up and the points don't matter.

This threads outa control baby!!! [hotas]

That's alright, it was never meant to be in control. I'm surprised it hasn't been locked already, there's clearly no constructive conversation to be had here. To such an extent that, apparently, any attempt to steer it in a constructive direction is "trolling", apparently. I'm sure they'll have a great time convincing the mods of that. :D

Actually the mods have already locked this thread. The lock just hasn't gotten here yet.

Refueling is too fast.
Repairing is too fast.
Unloading and loading are too fast.
Finding the black market is waaaay too fast and easy.

In an ideal space simulator, we should see our ship functions reflect reality things like work shortages, strikes, lock-outs, and untimely specialist's deaths. Part scarcity, licensing requirements.

"You want cannons? Let's see if you meet the criteria for acceptance as determined by the local warlord you've screwed over a hundred times before."

"You want your rainbow bright shields repaired? You'll have to get some new ones. I understand the anime princess wannabe is accepting applications from those who have left her service in the past."

"By the way, it looks like somebody jury rigged your power distributor to weapons capacitor connections in your lasers. Looks like non union work. Fixed it for ya, free of charge."

That's a good point it should take significantly longer to refuel.

This game does not have teleporting in it does it? They cant just teleport the fuel into your fuel tanks.

Also adding more ammo to the weapons and stuff.

In addition to the delay, we should have to make an appointment with the station before the module is installed. 24 to 72 hours would be appropriate and realistic.

The funny thing is I really am in favor of refueling, repairing and loading of cargo to take time in the game. BUT. And this is a big BUT. Only if I actually got to see it happen. Remember the scene from Wall-E where the shuttle was docked and robot arms popped out of the walls to start repairing, refueling and unloading the shuttle in seconds? That. I'd want that in the game. Something that happens at a station that makes it look more alive and if something is going to consume my time it should at least be entertaining way to consume my time. A count down timer is not entertaining to me.
