Can't find the moon for Pleiades Sector AB-W B2-4 9 A (Alien Crash Site)

no, there are definitely 9 planets 1 moon in that system. Or there were yesterday.....

have you tried relogging, or switching to solo or something? is it the same?

If it's still only one planet, then maybe...

It seems obvious, so apologies if I'm engaging in egg-sucking training, but to me it looks like you need to do an ADS honk. If only the two nearest bodies are showing up I'm guessing it's because your computer doesn't yet know about the others?

Don't forget that if you haven't got an ADS you can go scan the Nav beacon to get the data, that is if the system has one.

I have a basic 1E Discovery Scanner, didn't know I would need an ADS to find other bodies in a system.... (cue all the calls of "NEWB ALERT!" :)

I did honk when I got into the system.

Yup, your basic discovery scanner will only detect stuff within 500ls (if I recall correctly) so you have to work at finding everything in the system :)

If I remember right, the moon you are looking for is about 2000ls away from the main star, so well out of range of the basic discovery scanner.

Since there is no nav beacon to scan in that system your best bet (if you've got the approx 1mil cash) is to head to the nearest Base (obsidian orbital in the Maia system) and buy an advanced disco scanner.

Or

You could just pick a promising looking direction, fly a few 1000ls and honk your basic scanner again, you may get lucky and be in range of what you're looking for.

Hmm. There are a handful of choices, unless you want to go somewhere and buy an ADS! As Morgan Grimes said above, if there's a Nav beacon in the system you can drop down next to it and scan it to get the full system map. But with the system being largely non-specific other than the crash site I don't know if there's a Nav beacon there. It's not a system I've personally visited.

The second choice is to go old-school on planet detection. Fly away from the star and keep an eye out for points of light moving against the background. These will be planets and if you get close enough even the BDS will be able to pick them up with a honk (as it already did with the nearest planet). The problem is that you're looking for the ninth planet, which is likely to be fairly distant from the star. You could waste a lot of time flying in the wrong direction and never find it.

Third option: wing up with a friend who has the full map and follow them to the crash site.

Fourth option: hang around in Open play and look for another CMDR jumping in and flying off away from the star. Chances are they're headed for the crash site, so either request to wing up or simply tailgate them. There is a risk in Open that other CMDRs may not be friendly, so another option is Mobius if you have access, but obviously the odds of seeing someone else are lower than in Open.

To be honest it'll probably be quicker (assuming there's no Nav beacon) just to fly somewhere and upgrade the scanner. But if you want to role play the situation there are a few ways to go about it.

That sounds just like how my wife shops for clothes, and that takes FOREVER!!!!!!

All good options, Mt Schitt, but I think I'll buy an ADS.

Agree with the above comments, goto Obsidian Orbital in the Maia System, buy 1, leave the Orbital, honk and then scan that system. What sounds like your (and what was/is mine) first Black Hole awaits.

Okay, ADS purchased, moon located, crash site investigated. There was an beautiful Imperial Majestic class interdictor hovering above, no doubt making sure no nasty Thargoids emerged from the wreckage. I have to say the adjective majestic perfectly describes that imperial ship, it looked absolutely beautiful (although a little hostile - basically, "naff off, pilot, you're not authorised to be here"). As for the alien wreckage, not much to say about that. However having visited the crash site, I'll be watching the Galnet news feed closely for developments on this.

Thanks to all for your help with this.
