Horizons Tough bird the Anaconda ...Damaged but got home on a wing and a prayer.

G'day all,
well finally brought myself an Anaconda and what did ED do to interdict me, well they sent another Anaconda against me, wow what firepower . Managed to fight a little and escape with 20%. Damage repair was 335 thousand cr . I had a look at the damage and saved the photo, increabula detail , hull ripped to pieces, sparks flying everywhere, components hanging out, but the Anaconda made it to the station for repair.. Tough bird.

I would like to attach the pics but cant quite work out how, can you assist me in telling me how.

It's increadbul the detail that ED has gone to to display this damage, so the next time your damaged , do have a look once your back at the station, certainly a detailed side of the game I did not know about before.
yours aye

yep the damage graphics for the anaconda are brilliant - I love the flashing warning lights and sparks! As an aside Anacondas in their base from aren't actually that tough from a hull point of view - they will get chewed up pretty rapidly. (The HRP and Military bulkheads turn them into hull tanks but look at the prices:))

Does it really count if your canopy wasn't shattered? :)
The whole canopy blowing out is nonsense. Why don't ships have bulkhead doors that close when the canopy is blown out? Why do we have "glass" style canopys anyways? Especially on larger ships that have bridges. You would think in this future timeline if your canopy was blown out an emergency bulkhead doors like system would close preventing a cabin pressure loss of oxygen and atmosphere.

i heard the reason we have canopies are for gameplay aspects. Yea the ships of that time would probably use a combination of camera's and sensors but it wouldnt make for a very fun game imo

And after that you would fly blind :/
The canopy maybe looks like "glass" but it is made from a super-hightech synthesized material, that automatic adjust the incoming light from stars (otherwise you would be blind) and give you detailed information that you can see from the sensors. It is much more than "glass" since it can take an explosion and even shots from canons without breaking instant.
The mask from your remlock system is made from same material, that's why you still can look into space without getting your eyes burned but it is not locked with the sensors so you miss the information.

With a emergency lock-door......you would just see a wall. You would fly blind.

Yeah nice picture and experience. Glad you made it back.
Sadly this baby is the only ship with such lovely details. You won't see it on any other ship but this makes her even more exciting :)

Cameras can easily be disturbed through interferences and easily destroyed making you blind again^^

when you begin to think about the whole concept of limited cockpit life support in nonsense,You are all ready sitting a pressure suit when the canopy blow you would plug your suit into an emergency life support system,It could be intergrated heating in your suit and an oxygen bottle which could easly be scudded of carbon dioxide, there is no reason it could not last 24hrs,Again difficult/Danger just for the sake of it

I disagre about the cameras there are already small high quality cameras available so small they would be very hard to hit,and you could have many cameras for built in redundancy

Are you talking about a cabriolet in space?

once your cockpit glass or what ever it is blows out,The concept that you only have 7 mins of life support is nonsense, you get more than 7 mins from a humble scuber tank

I agere completly, and AS son as the blastdoors goes down, a screen would be lowered and you would see again.

Submarines today plot the oceans under the surface without the need of a visual reference. Sonar and radar is very advanced even in our time so in the Elite timeline it would be much more advanced. The whole canpoy blowing out is there simply as a stupid game play mechanic. Plain and simple. It would have been more engaging if we lost visual reference and had to rely more on radar than what we got now. But seeing as how our weapons are for the most part forward facing and turrets are trash I can see why they have an open canopy.
