Has the infamous Hauler been nerfed?

The Hauler used to be my no. 1 exploration ship. Cosy, small, and with a good jump range.

But now, I'm looking at a cheap piece of junk that can't even get a 25ly jump on a full tank, with all exploration-necessary equipment fitted. The DBX with an identical loadout trumps the Hauler's jump by 10ly. I can't believe my eyes....

Can anyone confirm this bad boy was nerfed? Or is this a bug with shipyard?

:(

I thought similar the other night. I remember a bare bones Hauler getting about 34ly jump range?

Likewise. If this guy's been nerfed then it begs the question... what IS the hauler actually for? Trumped by DBX on jump range, Adder on cargo, Eagle in combat... Just makes it an obsolete transit van xD

The Hauler wasn't nerfed, it's just a small vessel. This means any weight you add to it like scanners and SRVs make it much heavier proportional to the base weight. This means the FSD range will suffer more on the hauler for every ton of payload than the DBX.

To get ranges in the high 20s or 30s you can't bring an SRV bay (you might even have to forgo scanners!)

It's not a practical explorer really, but it makes a great disposable space taxi.

Edit: With no scanners and a full tank it gets 32.48LY.

Pretty sure it use to get 34-35ly per jump when stripped out, best I could manage was something like 27ly the other night.

With all D-rated components except FSD and Fuel Scoop, all cargo racks, an ADS and no shields, weapons or utilities it has a max range of 34.04 LY according to coriolis. With a full tank it gets 29.98LY.

The Hauler has never been able to get over 30 Ly as far as I know (without being engineered). The best explorer fit for it I remember was flirting with the 29 Ly range.

Depends on how you define explorer build. If you get a scanner (= 2 tons) you wont be able to get more then 29.9 ly on full fuel (34 ly max.)

That's not what was said though, he said it could never get over 30ly and it could if you stripped it right down.

Not a nerf or a bug. That is simply the distance that a ship that weighs 33 tons and has a 2A FSD can jump.

You used to get more than 34 ly jump range with the Hauler with scanners and everything (but without SRV and Planetary Approach Suite, if the latter does change anything at all).

Good Sir,

no, nothing has changed with the Hauler since launch. Just your perception, since Planetary Landings and the Engineers have been introduced.

Look at e.g. any Elite wikis. The Hauler's data has been untouched.

Fly safe!
