I knew I'd hate Looting in the SRV

... but I was wrong.

Just spent the last few hours last night until 2am happily trundling around, learning to use the wave scanner, finding various crashed containers guarded by skimmers, a Nav beacon, various minerals, admiring the views and loved it! The blackness and sense of being alone completed the experience, the sight of the ship in the distance and then driving back to 'home-sweet-home' and relative safety - perfect.

It made a great change from constant interdictions and people trying to take my stuff, this is now my place in the game to go for some chill out time.

Heh same... I was in recently in Witchhead nebula and went a bit further toward the Loop and landed on a lot of planets. Was driving around for hours and I must say it was quite enjoyable especially on planets near or inside the nebulae.

I thought to myself... "Credits, credits, ranks, this, that all the time in the bubble" while exploration can really be great and not feel like a waste of time since FDev really outdone themselves with the galaxy and what it has to offer.

Yes its fun and can be relaxing to.
For me I do a bit of everything. After coming back from the crab nebula about 3 weeks ago. I've been in the bubble doing the CG's, missions and some trading. But now I'm getting bored, and I want to head out towards the edge of the galaxy again. Or maybe go to sag A since I haven't been to the core. Closes I've been to the core is coalsack nebula lol.

For me it's all about speed. I keep the SRV fun by driving at pace.

It's awesome fun.

Have you tried any base raiding missions yet? They're great fun, and there's so much variety. I haven't seen two bases with the same layout since 2.1.

Pro tip if you do: if you see a light shining into the sky at the base, it's the core data point that usually gives a hefty pay out if you scan, depending on security level.

re base raiding, I'm on PC but use an Xbox controller and am finding it way too sensitive to target anything from the turret. I've probably overlooked a setting somewhere but until I can get the sensitivity reduced, following moving targets is a bit of a no-no at the moment.

The srv can be a great deal of fun, since you need to pay attention constantly not to hit rocks or land on a bump and start spinning. The issue is though that a lot of the stellar bodies have very low gravity, making it more frustrating than anything.

I actually find the easier worlds to drive on, to be those with low gravity. :s

Ah low grav planets are indeed fun to drive on...even more fun to glide on. With some practice on using the directional thrusters, it's quite easy to boost yer speed to an eye watering 120-150...some have even hit the magic 200 mark or so they claim anyway. Just keep repairing on the fly and ye don't even have to stop...unless ye smash into a rock doin 120 at which point if yer not on 100% health, then ye could well be looking at the loss of an SRV. Be safe...carry two ^^

Course, if yer looking for a challenge then try climbing mount everest on a high grav planet over 4g...then launch yerself off the top and hope yer fast enough to repair upto 3 times in the very rapid descent ^^

Dunno, low gravs are a pain when you have to rely an fast directional changes and speeds, for example in base raids.
