[PLUGIN] Elite Forum Sanitizer - Remove unwanted discussions, keep your sanity!

Or you could just not get so worked up about idiotic posts that you go to the effort of writing a browser plugin to erase them from your echo chamber entirely. Jeez. How are you meant to follow a conversation and be duly informed if half of the posts don't show up for you because they mention an arbitrary, contextless trigger?
I have never seen such effort put into pedantry like this.

My thoughts too, but each to their own. It becomes very impractical to follow threads with this. But it will surely be entertaining to read future posts from people who use this tool, miss large parts of the entire conversation and for that reason will post hilariously off topic.

People don't read posts regardless of this plugin. Just earlier today I had someone respond to a thread in complete and utter ignorance of what was written before him.

Great tool, now if it could only detect the "reactionary ironic threads" people seem to love to post on here, that would be great. You are a hero for doing this. :D

I'm only on the Forums at work (Firefox), so can't use it, but great idea [up] I wish the forums had the option to ignore threads as well as users, that would come in handy.

Hello everyone!

I've cooked up a little chrome plugin that will remove any thread and also individual posts that contain certain trigger words. I did this because I found that due to the amount of accounts on the forum, the ignore list is not versatile enough to filter a user with 1 posts that comes to the latest newsletter thread and posts "BUT WHAT ABOUT GETTING ST3AM KEY!!!1!" - usually these people are new and there's an endless supply so keeping up via actively ignoring is impossible. It's much better to just filter posts that bring up a subject you really don't care about, or which has been discussed ad nauseum already.
For example, you don't care about moaning-posts regarding gr1efing? This will help. (words obfuscated so this post doesn't vanish once you use the plugin :) )

Heck, with the custom word filter box you can use any list of words or phrases (separated by comma) to suit your personal taste... or distaste.

This is an extension for Chrome, Chromium, or derivatives. It does not work for Firefox, browsers named after video game characters, browsers no longer supported by their own manufacturer, or browsers rattling on about 100% ACID compliance, only to be ditched and replaced by Webkit ;)
Disclaimer: I love all browsers, however some more than others. Plus I really don't have the time to make plugins for every one of them. Feel free to make one for your browser and share it!

Why is this plugin not called Echo Chamber?

Slight bump, sorry, but got a question.

Can it be used to ignore any post that starts with "ok, so...."

You could but I would not recommend it. That's too generic a phrase.

Why is this plugin not called Echo Chamber?

Because it is not producing additional posts that agree with you, it only blocks out things you don't want to read anyway. Think of it as Sunglasses. Plus it's super handy to block out sockpuppet accounts that are used to drive an agenda. You know, accounts that only ever post on a single subject of the game for example, or that keep agreeing with the same users five times in a row. Like an Echo ;)

But seriously, there's of course the risk that you block out valuable posts just because a user happened to post stuff in the past that you disagreed with - just like google tailoring search results to your interests can lead to a skewed view on things. On the other hand, you can't force people to read what you write. They have every right to refuse to read something or not read stuff written by a particular person. Just like they don't have to play with people they don't want to in open. Freedom of choice is a good thing, if used responsibly.

RLY, RLY GOOD! Finally a vaccine to the amount of published with the PS4, XB influx of demented zit filled teenagers...!
Question is this plug compatible with the Opera browser sir? (IT IS!)
Thank you for your work cmdr! o7
