Really learnt my lesson today.. PVP

So trying to avoid PVP didn't work for me, looking for contacts in the Eranin 4 conflict zone, and a player selected the Feds. I decided to bug out but wasn't quite quick enough, giving him the easiest kill in the history of ED.

Next time I won't be so quick to turn tail and run away like Brave Sir Robin

Running away in a 1v1 PVP where you got attacked first is usually a detah sentence indeed :D try at least to put some hits and a bit of fear in your agressor before you go out in flames, you never know when another player selecting your faction may be around for a nice 2v1 to counter the initiative your oppnent had ;)

A tactical withdrawal aka running away can work depending on the enemy. The AI will give chase but aren't at times the brightest bunch. They show great skill at times like flying around with FAOFF and using their thrusters but power away from them and they will pursue you but not very effectively.

Against a player however it's a different story. You really have to pick your moment. Putting in some shots to make them think twice can often work. Either that or get them really annoyed with you. :)

I was attacking another player in a standard Sidewinder in my Sidewinder and managed to obtain a kill, however on top of that some guy in a Cobra MkIII came outta no where and started to blast me. I managed to keep doing erratic maneuvers while my cruise drive was charging and managed to escape with barely 50% health. It was adrenaline pumping. It felt like my freakin drive took 20 mins to charge while avoiding enemy fire.

I just saw a 6.5 v 1 at the Fed distress signal.
6.5 since I shot him a little bit but left him some health to scarper, everyone else decided otherwise.
To give due to the Cmdr that was the 1 he lasted a lot longer than I expected him to :)

I think most of us have been caught out like this. Usually fumbling around for the super cruise + boost button while wishing there was some way to keep all the pips to system.

If I'm lucky enough to be the one doing the chasing I'm generally happy to let the other player go, once I've burnt off his shields and worn the hull down to the point it wouldn't take me long to deal with him if he retaliates. I'm sure they just go repair and head back for revenge but I think the instancing makes it unlikely they would find me again.

That's pretty much what happened, won't happen again though, next time I will go for the kill, or at least down in a blaze of glory..

Completely off topic (and not meant to be offensive by any means)

I've seen a lot of people use the word 'learnt' in these forums. Is this a UK thing? I know if I said 'learnt' and not 'learned' in my papers here in the US, I would lose at least a letter grade!

(Learnt isn't showing up with a red line under it, so I assume it's accepted somewhere!)

I think we (Brits) tend to use learnt as opposed to learned more frequently, but I'm not sure that either would be considered incorrect.

We use learned with the other meaning too though, pronounced lur-ned (pronouncing both syllables) for someone who has knowledge / understanding of a subject or area of expertise.

If in doubt. Ramming Speed.

On the off chance they manage to avoid your challenge of a glorious death then continue boosting past them, while they turn make your escape :p

Learnt is perfectly acceptable in Blighty.

As for PvP, how effective is going cold?
