Transfer Poll Results

Well done FD! On another note I think this is a good chance for us to tackle another feature that I find immersion breaking: Rank grind.

People being able to grind out faction ranks so quickly is ridiculous and immersion breaking. Nobody would actually get promoted 3-4 times in one day. Each rank should require at least a year of service and then only the most dedicated players in each faction should get a chance to move up. If they fail to complete/abandon missions there should be demotions and dishonorable discharges. The current system just doesn't make sense and its poor gameplay balancing when players can get Corvettes and Cutters without dedicating their life to that faction.

Thanks so much for the chance to play a part in the development direction.

I'm really happy to see a delay. I felt that the size of the Galaxy is something that makes Elite really special. FSD modding and ship choice being real ingame decisions that players should be faced with. I was disappointed at the idea that something would diminish that aspect of galactic scale.

As a one ship pilot, it wouldn't have impacted my game much. But I think it would have cheapened things in the big picture.

Looking forward to 2.2!

Hello Commander Anarch157a!

We're looking to implement a "sell ship remotely" feature at the same time as we add the ship transfer feature, to allow Commanders to sell ships docked in distant systems.

Talking of stuff remotely, am I right in thinking that in 2.2 we can not only pay all our outstanding fines remotely but also be able to see where they all are? I'm sure I've got quite a few scattered around that I don't know about. :)

Way to go Fdev, introduce even more nonsensical timesinks because "immersion" -.-

Scenario:

  • You have a fleet of 10 ships
  • You want to move them all to a new location

Pre 2.2:
  • Go to source.
  • Move ship 1
  • Fly back in sidewinder & sell
  • Move ship 2
  • ...
  • Move ship 10

Total time : 20x however long it takes to get from start to finish

Post 2.2:
  • Go to destination
  • Request ship 1 be auto moved
  • Repeat for ships 2 - 10

Total time : What ever delay FD puts for moving ship

So please explain to me where this mythical time sink comes from compared to what we have today ?

EDIT
For reference I have 1 ship so won't be making use of this feature but completely agree with it's introduction as a QoL improvement for those with fleets. Voted "delay" cos reasons.

Off the top of my head and assuming Frontier goes with the mentioned times, about four and a half to five days.

Still less time than it took me to get out there for the save Jaques CG, but then I don't get to play 24/7. Naturally some people made it out there in much shorter times. So, it seems fair enough to me.

If bulk freighters use the same kind of hyperdrive Jaques and capital ships uses, it should take a week. This was more or less how much Jaques itself took.

First of all, congratulations on the application of democratic procedures (voting). I'm in favor of democracy too, though not in favor of this particular outcome for one simple reason. I just don't get it. I've worked my butt off since 2.1 and fully modded all of my ships. Even my combat vette has over 21LYs of jump range, so that its a viable ship to travel even a bit outside of the bubble. I can reach the outskirts of human inhabited space in somewhere between 10 to 20 mins (20 with my slowest ship).
So, this feature is not even remotely useful in the bubble, unless you just use it for one and only time to gather all your ships to one station more easily. But what about outside then? Excluding Colonia, now I will have the option to move my vette to lets say Maia, either by flying it in 15 mins, or by flying there in my asp, order the vette, pay, log out and wait for 100 mins? I fail to see the dilemma here, i'm sorry. It was said that this was intended to be a quality of life improvement.
Anyway, I guess this has been overly discussed the previous days. I just wanted to state my opinion after the voting has taken place.
I am happy this was decided in a democratic fashion and, as every democratic nation has the leaders it deserves, so do we, and we have to occasionally cope with things we might not agree.
