Transfer Poll Results

Well done FD! On another note I think this is a good chance for us to tackle another feature that I find immersion breaking: Rank grind.

People being able to grind out faction ranks so quickly is ridiculous and immersion breaking. Nobody would actually get promoted 3-4 times in one day. Each rank should require at least a year of service and then only the most dedicated players in each faction should get a chance to move up. If they fail to complete/abandon missions there should be demotions and dishonorable discharges. The current system just doesn't make sense and its poor gameplay balancing when players can get Corvettes and Cutters without dedicating their life to that faction.

Scenario:
- You have a fleet of 10 ships
- You want to move them all to a new location

Pre 2.2:
  • Go to source.
  • Move ship 1
  • Fly back in sidewinder & sell
  • Move ship 2
  • ...
  • Move ship 10

Total time : 20x however long it takes to get from start to finish

Post 2.2:
  • Go to destination
  • Request ship 1 be auto moved
  • Repeat for ships 2 - 10

Total time : What ever delay FD puts for moving ship

So please explain to me where this mythical time sink comes from compared to what we have today ?

Go away and take your logic with you! ;)

Hello Commander CMDR Rusty Dog!

You are talking about the Interstellar Factors. Contacts from this organisation are only present in low security systems, but they allow you to pay off fines and claim bounties and bonds from basically anywhere, for a price, of course.

The current plan is to try and get these in for 2.2, yes, fingers crossed.

Because they want instant gratification ? Call of Duty players who don't understand how Elite works probably. Separating the wheat from the chaff (not that chaff!).

No, because they often find out that to do any task they need about 20 jumps to get the right ship and 20 jump back to actually start doing what they planned. In the mean time, they log off due to boredom, and eventually don't log in before a while.

What proportion of the total number of players have participated in the poll? 38,000 of 200,000 = 19%?

Chances a lot of the players that weren't aware of the poll weren't even aware ship transfer was a thing on the radar.

When it arrives they will be pleased in whatever form it takes.

Any Call of Duty players here?

Great stuff ! Thanks Sandro o7

why are people moving away from this game in droves.. oh wait!
Well it all has to do with the way gravity dictates a circular orbit you see. When an object is drawn in at a certain angle because of the gravitational pull of a larger object it will also eventually be pushed out at the other end of its orbit - thus the perception of 'moving away' at times.

:D

How about all the threads saying "came back after x month" ?

How about them?

I see them on every game forum I've ever been a part of.

EDIT: I know I had one on the Discovery Freelancer forum, when I left for a while to wait for the next update. I'm also pretty sure I had one on this form back in like February 2015...I got burned out, real life was creeping on me and I took a break. Came back 2 months later and haven't stopped playing for more than 1 week at a time, since.

Excellent. Definitely what remote bounty/bond collection needed. Give an incentive to do it while in system, but let people "clean up" their list when it gets too big and scattered ;)

For example If you're of to a CG then you can dispatch your combat vessel and fly over to the system in your travelling ship and catch up with it there, forward planning nothing like it.

Yay, we did it guys! Frontier please add capital Freighters that deliver the ships.

Now that this hot potato has been put to bed I think it's time to reflect on everything that was announced at Gamecom (ship transfer included) and be bloody excited about 2.2 which is looking amazing!

Yes, the whole ship transfer thing did neatly deflect attention away from the 'your small cargo ship can now print streams of fighters, which seem to be packing better weapons that ships much larger in size', conundrum. ;)
