Permits ? Why are they even there? i mean what is the point?

While grinding away at my rank for the corvette.. I get permits to systems here and there, but why ?

It's not like they are special in a meaningful way or has any real bennefits as far as i can tell.

What is the point ? Shouldnt there be something worth your while there? or did i miss something entirely? ( besides some mirror discounts on some selected stuff. )

they're part of the story though. Pilots Federation control your FSD, and they control what systems you're allowed to jump into. Instead of asking "what is the point of permit locked systems", ask "why are the Pilots Federation stopping me going there?"

For the privilege. Not much else.

Is Sirius permitted (don't remember) at least that one has an Engineer?

Ive often wondered this myself , i would have thought that there would be rares trade or some very lucrative missions on offer and even some pretty sites to see but they are just like any other random system... i just dont see why they have permits at all on some of these systems.

I've often pondered on the point of permits. I mean, why do we need them? e.g. anyone should be able to come and go in the Pentagon; it's good for freedom

Well it seems I didnt misunderstand anything atleast :)

I guess we just have to wait and see if FD decide to add something behind thoes permit walls.

Would be nice if you could travel to them without a permit.
But if the cops catch you, it's the death penalty.

a few of them having "real value". for exampel: rares in permit systems are the ones with most max allocation and profit/t.

i would like to see more like that. peregrina for exampel could be a perma-outbreak system, a constant source of pharmaceutical isolators.

You got permits for systems, as a reward for gaining rank. What's so pointless about that?

Once you've reached Petty Officer in the Fed Aux then you get to visit Sol. Sol is a hand crafted system and is wonderful. It is entirely worth your while to visit it and is both special and meaningful - unless your not interested, in which case - just move on.

As for the multitude of other permits you gain through ranking Fed, there are role-play reasons, access to the odd good trade opportunity and hopefully with the other permit locked systems they will be worthwhile in the future.

Two are prison colonies, a couple are religious orders, a few are pirate groups.

But the OP is asking about the military rank locked systems. Some are for obvious reasons, Sol and Achenar. The others don't seem to have a purpose as yet.

I would be awesome if as you say "handcrafted" the "handcrafted" moon would be build so I could find the first place "we" touched down.

It would be awesome to land on the moon. The rumblings are that it's quote colonised (and so not just a barren moon), and that there's more to come for it.

Did you not enjoy landing on Ganymede, and Titan? Then you could officially say you'd "been around"...

Is that too unreal that in the far future, people own systems and don't want everyone to be able to jump in ?

So, if you're really rich, powerful, you're the leader of a major superpower in the galaxy... yeah every pilot will have to prove themselves before being allowed to jump in.

For example, Sol is the base system of the Federation. The official buildings and stuff are on Mars. They don't want people they don't trust in that system. They're one of the 3 superpowers. So yeah, they can force ships' manufacturers to block that in those FSD computers.

It makes totally sense. You can't enter interpol buildings in your car, because you're not allowed in there. This is the same at a bigger scale.
