I can't fathom What Just Happened

So I'm in my FDS, I am flying to a station then boom, i get interdicted. I submit and i fight and it was a good fight. I lost my canopy and things got tense (was fighting a FAS Deadly btw). Feds show up and i let them take care of the FAS because my life support is very low. I jump out and literally, not even exaggerated by any means, i get interdicted by that SAME FAS not even 2 seconds into hyperspace. I submit but my life support wont last so I decide to atleast put him down before i go down. Then as I submit I get rammed instantly as if he spawned on top of me and my ship takes insane hull damage. He takes me out with ease.

What the....!

I am so livid.

I dont even care about the rebuy cost. I can cover it easily. Its just the fact that it happened.

My blood is boiling commanders...

Yeah i feel sry for you commander :(
You're not the only one who has such accidents. As soon as you low-wake out from a fight, you get a "new" follower only for you. Happened in wing last time for me.

Wingmate had problems and i droped at his beacon. I thought i take care of his enemy during he jumps out. As soon as he was in supercruise, he got interdicted from an NPC with the exact same name. But i was still fighting him. Duplicate....

This feels a bit like Mr. Smith from the matrix

NPC's are telling you to git gud :D

That was fast :p

But yeah, OP, you have to see them go boom or they will keep jumping after you again and again. Feds don't slow them NPCs at all when it comes to jumping.
That spawn collision tho, I had only few very close calls, but no actual collision yet. That's just some really bad luck.

You probably jumped out before the cops finished off the pirate.

At this point, the game forgets what is happening there, and all it remembers is the pirate isn't dead. Since there is no persistence of state, it also respawns perfectly intact.

Yes, its annoying. Hoping FD do something to improve this at some point. At least remember the pirate's level of damage at the point you jump out if nothing else, although ideally, if he is being attacked by the cops, the last thing he would be doing would be chasing you, he'd be running or fighting.

I love the bit when I get the npc's hull down into the 20's% and I jump out only to get interdicted by the same named npc 30 seconds later now with full health and shields. Annnnnd they said NPCs don't cheat...

The closest thing I have experienced to persistence is when fighting a NPC anaconda... he was low hull... high waked out.... I scanned wake and followed... found him in the same damaged state in supercruise in the next system

Simular happened to me. I am not a Maniac killer so after getting interdicted by Master Adder, (I am in FAS), i thought i won't kill him just take his PP down to 0% and let him call his buddies for rescue. Did this and jumped back into SC, ONLY to be interdicted AGAIN by same Adder....How is this i thought he has no power, oh well maybe he rebooted and got Power back, so submit and we both come into normal space and he just sits there, i look at his power and it is Zero....and he cannot fire at me or move......

So i then take out his FSD so he can't jump........ I jump out and get back to heading for station, then wadda you know Mr Adder interdicts me AGAIN....How is this possible FD?????

This time i d turn yo maniac killer and waste him.

Come on FD sort it out!

Back a while ago people never fought interdictions, they just submitted, boosted and low waked with no fear and that was job done.

This made it laughably easy so FDev made NPC's like players so that there's a high chance they'll follow you if you low wake and re-interdict you. A lot of that is handwavium etc and there are problems, no denial here.
The 100% hull bit is as Agony Aunt says.

Tl: Dr - For security high wake, always always.

Weird. This is not a problem I have ever had.....but I can understand why this would cause so much anger. As Agony_Aunt said, I really hope they fix this in 2.2. Did you report it as a bug?

Not always. I had an NPC interdict me tonight after my cargo. My mines left him on 24% hull, I low waked out and the same NPC interdicted me a little later, he was still on 24% and his shields only regenerated while he was chasing me.

I recently had a similar situation happen to me.
Couple of nights ago, got intradicted by an Elite Anaconda. Fought him for awhile but he kept spamming chaff and SCBs. Got fed up and boosted out to let the cops handle him. A bit later got intradicted by the same Conda. However his shields were now down and he seemed to have suffered some damage. So this time I just blew him away.
Thing is, this was a mission generated NPC. So, I'm wondering, do only mission generated NPCs have this persistence and the random pirate NPCs don't?

Have fun, fly safe. o7

That only happen if you follow npc. In any other situation npcs aren't persistent. You can actually kill npc and see same npc waiting in sc

Yeah the current lack of persistence of NPC is disappointing to say the least. It feels like NPC are using god mode cheat codes at the moment. FD denies they're cheating. Maybe not, in that case the NPC mechanics are just . The effect is the same.

Unfortunately for you, OP, you were hit with the double-whammy of the second interdiction and a bugged too-close drop.

Ships dropping too close on interdiction, causing unavoidable damage or destruction, is something I have ticketed in 2.1. I'm told it's a known issue and is being worked on.

See my 'threads started' history if interested in bug report.

What Agony said. You know what OP? I feel like that's a situation where you're justified to contact support and ask for the rebuy back. I remember support giving in to careless explorers dying fair and square at the hands of NPCs and players, surely they can help you there where the game logic is clearly failing.

Also the cops/pirates despawn once you move to far away from them.
