Ships Good ship for Sothis runs?

First of all, drop that docking computer for a discovery scanner. Doing a Sothis run while scanning along will boost your credits, influence and explore rank.

Second, drop that mines. You don't need them. Although python is slow (when not engineered), if you submit than boost and jump out, you can escape any interdiction unharmed.

Thirdly. Upgrade your distributor and thrusters to A grade. It's not like you are going on a 22k ly exploration trip. You don't need D grades, you are not saving all that much, but when it comes to avoiding interdictions and/or landing in stations or on planets you'll need that A grade thrusters.

Look for the Python in Li Yong Rui controlled systems. 15% discount on the ship and outfitting there should allow you to have better internals and keeps your rebuy down.

The Python is fine and all, but for a start, you might want to go with the ASP Explorer. Pick missions that require lesser cargo space, then alternate between Open/Private/Solo for better mission options.

Equip it with cargo space in all of the optional modules. Max it out as much as you can.

This was what I was doing for a week (10-15 millions per run which rounds up about 1 hour 30 minutes if RNGesus serves well) until I have 200 million in the bank, then bought an Anaconda and equip it with the Cargo Hauling loadout.

Do take note that with the Anaconda, you are unable to head to the outpost in Sothis, and instead, must dock at the station for missions. I was getting 35-50 million per run that totals between 40minutes - 60 minutes with the Anaconda (including missions picking + travelling to locations) and earned about 400 million within 5 days, which allowed me to fully A-rate the Anaconda for combat.

You should not try to alternate between servers for lesser cargo space when you have the Anaconda anymore. Just pick whichever pays best, if there is one option with lesser cargo space and better payout than a transaction you have at the moment, then abandon and discard. And set off immediately.

Loadout for Cargoconda: https://coriolis.io/outfit/anaconda...-----3h0505050304044803032f.Iw18ZlA=.Aw18ZlA=

Why the Cargoconda? It is by far one of the best jumping ships in terms of statistics. With a modded FSD, you should be able to jump even further.

Note that I have no shields for the ASP Explorer. It has enough speed to outrun after you submit to a pirate's interdiction. The trick however, is to remain motionless until your FSD has cooled down, then start boosting away with your FSD engaged. This way, you won't have to worry about being hit. However, this works only against AI pirates (Private/Solo).

With the Anaconda however, it is one heavy bathtub of a ship. So the most basic of shields are a must should you misjudge turning into the envelope of a station. Not to mention that with such a meager top boost speed, being interdicted means you may more or less come under fire while engaging FSD.

When you are running Sothis/Ceos, you should never contemplate having weapons or engaging in interdicted combat. Time is money.

I hope this helps.

EDIT: The prices you see in my coriolis links are without discounts. Remember to purchase your ship(s) at Ray Gateway at Diaguandri system.

EDIT 2: While the Python has a better cargo capacity than the ASP with a slight difference to FSD jump range, I still prefer the ASP Explorer. It is less punishing to your wallet if you get killed as well. And with that, you can achieve the Anaconda faster with the difference in finances.

Always fit best power. distributor and thrusters if you can.

If you are low on credits, going for the asp X is a solid backup option.

Would you recommend 6A's, or would I get away with 5A's? I'll admit, I don't really understand thrusters and things like optimal mass and such.

unladen the difference is minor (~ 15 m/s boost speed), but laden it will get massive: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...plained-in-one-simple-table-(Rating-and-Mass)

... also, there isn't really a need for an additional 32t tank AND a class 4A fuelscoop. i would either get rid of the additional tank, and take a 5A scoop, or downsize the fuelscoop to a pure safety net, and get a larger shield instead. actually, i would always put at least a class 5 shield on a python, when running missions. 64t of fuel up your total range to 225 ly laden ... it costs you jumprange, though.

Asps, Anacondas and Pythons, oh my!

Hello, thinking of doing the Sothis/Ceos runs to get a bit more cash, considering getting a Python for this purpose, was looking for feedback before taking the trip to Ray Gateway. Trying to keep the total costs <100m. https://coriolis.io/outfit/python/0...024024.Iw18eQ==.MwBjEYUsYJn2MyhMIA==?bn=Trade

I did Ceos/Sothis in a Python, an Asp and an Anaconda. My thoughts:

The Anaconda is the best ship for the long-haul cargo delivery missions to the bubble out of Ceos/Sothis and here's why:

The Python is a great ship, pretty & nasty, I love flying it but while the cargo cap seems huge compared for instance, to a Cobra III you quickly realize the Anaconda can earn triple as much credit per lap (back & forth to the bubble) as a Python while making about a third fewer jumps due to its much longer jump range compared to the Python, especially modified. The Python, while OK for hauling medium cargoes medium distances just doesn't have the greatest jump range or cargo capacity. It can be done though: 39 jumps to the bubble!

My easy, second choice is the Asp-X. If you already have one or can afford one, consider an Asp-X for Ceos/Sothis since early on you will not necessarily be trying to fill your hold with long-range delivery missions. Depending on your level of local REP & INF you may need to run a bunch of data delivery missions between New Dawn Station in Ceos system and both of the stations (New Dawn & Sothis Mining) in Sothis system to increase your local REP & INF and become ALLIED so the more lucrative smuggling and cargo delivery missions begin to be offered. The Asp-X offers the flexibility to carry more of those missions due to its ability to land at Sothis Mining. It also carries enough cargo that you can easily earn 15 million per lap back to the bubble on those long-range cargo hauling missions.

After a few of those you really start paying attention to the increased cargo cap and earning potential of the Anaconda. Though over your 100 million budget (more like 500 million if A-rated) you can basically buy another new Python after each Ceos/Sothis/Bubble run made with an Anaconda. It has good cargo capacity, good legs (better with engineer FSD mods), good guns and a good earner. But it is expensive and has a couple of limitations:

The Anaconda cannot land at Sothis Mining, the "other" Sothis station (there's no large landing pad) so the Anaconda is limited to using Newholm Station while an Asp or Python can also land at Sothis Mining. Not major but some might find it limiting. Also, in its "stock" form, flying an Anaconda is like dancing with a fat lady. The Asp-X and Python are both more maneuverable and flexible and the Asp has longer legs, the major (to me) trade-off being their much lower cargo cap. I find the Asp (and Python) to be much easier to fly and dock than the Annie. The Asp has much better visibility as well. I still trade off between using my Anaconda and my Asp-X for running Ceos/Sothis.

Your FSD should ALWAYS be the best, A-rated one available. Period. Power Distributors vary by job but the bigger/better your Power Distributor the faster your weapons, boost, etc. will re-charge, the trade-offs being mass and cost. The numbers = bigger, the letters = better. Higher numbers are larger modules while an "A" rated module is usually better than "B", etc. however there are exceptions (such as using "D" rated equipment for maximizing jump ranges) and technical differences, you will learn them. YouTube is your friend. You can get away with not having weapons: you are, after all a cargo hauler but I would not recommend running without shields. I have done it but, besides protecting your ship from enemy weapons fire the shields prevent damage to your ship when landing too hard or running into something, which happens too often. Fit everything else, then choose a Power Plant that will run it all.

Just refer to the load outs that I recommend and infer from there. Frankly speaking, it's the fastest to maximize profit in the long run once you start cargo hauling with the Anaconda. It's about the fastest cargo hauling machine there is since the Cutter is for Loop trading with huge cargo capacity albeit terrible jump range. And also combat focused would be the Corvette.

All in all, preferences and personal taste aside, if you want profit rates at its finest, haul for the Anaconda and then with it. Nuff said.

Optimal mass in engineers' modifications would increase your jump range. Lowered Mass itself allows you to have a higher boost speed with thrusters. That's the summed up explanation.

It's a matter of how much cash you have...

I reached elite trader doing Robigo/Sothis runs in a T6 - slightly less range than the Asp, but significantly cheaper to A rate.

The Clipper is significantly cheaper than a Python, has a similar jump range and cargo capacity, but much faster to evade interdictions.

So far, the best ship for Sothis runs I have is the Cutter - 650+ tons cargo and able either fight or escape interdictions. Mind you, you'll have to have lots of trips already done to afford it (about 500MCr+)

Fly safe

G5 Dirty Drive tuning from Palin and you can get that python to boost over 450m/s making it invulnarable to npc interdictions, plus you can make 17m+ from hauling stuff back from Maia.

i do Sothis/Ceos runs in my Python and you want to do best A rated on all of them but the life support and sensors. with just clean drives 1 since its a cheap one anyone can pretty much buy you will outrun all of the interdictions. after that weapons and shields are an option. i did my first run with this build

https://coriolis.io/outfit/python/0...8040403024f0505370403022f2i.Iw18eQ==.Aw18eQ==

with just rank 1 upgrades in just about everything it worked out good and i made my first 80 million. now the downside the 15ly jumps it was 29 jumps to get to my first offload and took 2 hours to get thru 16 missions i had collected. for your first time out there i would use an ASP X and do the smuggling missions between Sothis that end in Ceos(make sure its ends at the Ceos station not will update in Ceos). doing that i made 120 million in 5 hours yesterday. the Sothis smuggling missions to Ceos are 5-9 million and can be done in 15 minutes or less.

I just finished modding my python for so these runs, basically cargo racks with mines for the pesky interdictions. First level 5 roll got me up to 35ly empty...secondary increased fuel range (not sure I understand that) but it was blue so it should good :)..... Will have about 250 for the cargo hold.... Makes the trip a lot faster....

Ditto. Did same and you really do not need weapons for SOTHIS JOBS. Never need to fight and rarely need to run. Best in a Conda. Scoop fuel fast - 6A is great and even 5A is ample but use speed to get the highest rate and start full speen near almost full. Use small Shield + DC. After many runs you can drop the ADS.

I just made about 6+ mil on one run, post nerf, so yeah. Grd 5 fsd range helps. So does 200 tons of cargo capacity. Just flip back and forth between solo and open and load up.
