Newcomer / Intro Want a few hundred thousand credits to boost your funds?

Just wanted to highlight to relative newcomers (or anyone short of virtual funds) that there are three trade Community Goals (CGs) running at the moment where many hundreds of thousands in credits are available to anyone who participates. Basically all you have to do is take just one load of the required trade goods to the station of the CG, sign up first and then sell your cargo. When the CG finishes you can claim hundreds of thousands (currently the least stands at 200,000). Full details in the first post here:

Have fun ( to avoid grief don't do it in open ).

My first run at a community goal, and I just dropped off my first load - one full Cobra load (36 T) put me in the top 75%.

Current minimum reward is 400K credits.

Second update - I just cracked the Top 50% with 324 tons delivered (this is on the Empire trade mission).

3,645 tonnes put me into top 10% currently paying around 3.5 million.

At 36 tons per load, that's gonna take me a while. :D

True.

However I am at 50% in the Colonia Connection one with 231 tonnes, so doing well in that one is possible for you. I don't do Fed and Imperial at the same time but the levels in the Fed one are similar to the Imperial but of course they aren't paying as well at least partially due to them being a tier behind.

I assume that if I want to remain in the top 50% on the Obotrima Empire one, I need to keep delivering explosives, right?

I've found a nice supply of explosives at an outpost that's only 21.7 ly from Obotrima, and it's only 24 ls from the entry point. One jump empty, two jumps back laden, so I can shuttle between the two quickly and not bother with scooping.

Yes keep going it is only halfway at the moment, besides if enough people sign up but don't deliver anything you could get into the top 25%.

I have selected two locations one is a planetary base one jump each way but that can take Cutters so gets hoover'd clean from time to time. The other is an outpost so nothing bigger than Pythons but that is two jumps back.

As I am just shuttling on a repeating route I have ditched the scoop and discovery scanner in favour of cargo racks.

Thanks for the idea about ditching the scoop.

The Obotrima Empire CG just hit Tier 5 - minimum payout is 500,000 CR. Top 10% payout is 6.144 M CR, top 50% is just shy of 2.5 M.

I'm up to 872 tons delivered now.

Update - I'm up to 1,032 tons delivered, still Top 50%. I'm done for the night - already past my bedtime. :) I'll check in tomorrow and see what's what.

This is a valuable service you provide for new players, Mr. Yorks. Kudos!

Thanks for that - I do hesitate to plug these things too much though as I don't want to be seen as a CG troll (or something). However I do wish that I had known about these sort of startup-boosting rewards when I collected my first loaned sidewinder 18 months ago so I highlight the occasional trade CG that looks to have a good payout and not too onerous requirements. I just hope that I don't aggravate people too much by doing so.

CG troll? Why? Because you bring more people to the CG? I think that is actually beneficial for everyone, low and high-ranking commanders alike. :)
If you'd like, we can take turns in announcing them, here, so you don't have to feel like spamming the forums. :D

I for one very much appreciate you starting this thread. I've been wanting to participate in a CG, and this thread prodded me into checking this one out and finding that it was not very far at all from where I was, and quite doable once I found a good source I could work quickly.

I've gotten a ton of practice at my docking and approaches as well. :)

Just wanted to give an update - I hit Top 25% at 1,472 tons delivered in the Obotrima Empire CG.

Well, I'm just about finished with this CG - final tally 2,032 tons of explosives delivered for the Empire. I may make a couple more trips, but work beckons tomorrow and I won't get a chance to play again until tomorrow evening. I'll check in when I can, and make some more runs if it's still going on then.

I'm still in the top 25% - hope I can hang on. It'll probably hit Tier 6 overnight.

Funny thing is, I got the invite from Tod McQuinn feeding mines to my last NPC interdictor. I killed six of them doing this CG.

One thing I have definitely learned here; my Cobra has done great, but if I'm going to make doing trade CGs a regular thing ...

True that. Once you're caught in the money making spiral of bigger ships for bigger profits for bigger ships, there's no turning back!

I'm relatively new and hadn't done any of the CG's as I read them as "deliver us the cargo for free" (so i spend say 100k on some cargo, then hand it over for no immediate return). Are you saying I buy cargo in one place, then sell it at the CG location (for a loss or profit) and that goes towards the CG goal???

Yes.

(There may be CGs where you give cargo away, but most involve you selling it, generally for a profit, at the regular commodities market.)

Oh absolutely yes - always (in my experience) a profit when selling the requested goods in the CG's market. The price and demand levels in that market are fixed for the duration of the CG, thus even the delivery of many million tonnes of those goods makes no impact on price or demand levels. Of course availability, cost and supply levels of those goods in the surrounding systems is affected so profit per tonne might go down over the course of the CG but you can always find profitable and plentiful sources if you look around / travel further for them (use a 3rd party site like Thrudds for example).

Even delivering just 1 t of the required goods (AFTER signing up) gets someone into the first reward level (this has been tested and confirmed many times) and so even in a stock sidewinder, someone can get a decent credit injection from the CG.

Every tonne that is sold into the CG's market counts towards the target figure and so helps reach the next tier of rewards. Where there is a worthwhile "global reward" (such as the construction of x number of stations by one of the current CGs) - people have been known to spend days hauling many thousands of tonnes in order to achieve desired or enhanced "global rewards".

For CGs that are not trade oriented, you still get profit from your contribution, such as bounties, combat bonds or exploration data for example (depending on the CG focus).

There is a guide to community goals here:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/192877-The-Community-Goal-Guide

You can always find details about current CG's here:

Hope that helps.
