Horizons Ships, why so few? Wound't procedural ships be nice?

Give me 31 different cockpits. Hell, give me 6 different internal themes that correspond to their manufacturer's sensibilities. We can't even walk around our ships to really appreciate them yet. We need some better defined roles to fit the classes we have. New classes will fall in line once they have a purpose.

Yeah, ED needs more ships, if SC can do it why not Elite?, The idea of procedural ships tho is in my opinion not a good one, the game is way to
good for a half     attemt on riseing ship numbers, but tho models we have is waaay to old, even for game lore :/

Billions of stars... 31 ships. In a universe with thousand of inhabited worlds and stations, why do we only have 31 ships to fly around with?

A feature I'd love to see? Spore style ships generated procedurally or perhaps even crafted ships made out of pieces of scrap you can buy.

For a universe this size, I'd like to see at least 300 ships! Not 31. Sold at many different locations. Perhaps even some secret unique ships that players can "discover" and share around.

Letting the player who discovers that ships name it would be awesome as well.

Nah, wouldn't work. The playerbase would figure out what the meta-ships are during beta and everyone would be flying those few ships. Playerbase only wants to know what the best ship is, whether it is 1 out of 30 or 1 out of 300, doesn't matter. ;)

procedural ships?
Not if it makes them look goofy or outright ugly like in NMS.

The science and landmass is done via procedural generation because it follows science rules.
But ships have lore and reason behind them. they need more of a hands touch

I'd be happy if the ships had individual huds and not all use the same hud they have now.

Not sure about proc. gen. Ships, but a few more into the mix would be a nice thing. Just for laugh and giggles and variety.

mod kits for NPCs ships would do it.
Just maybe more- different. Like extra bits of armor, or missing plates, or externally bolted-on extra bits (cabling, sensors, racks- that sorta stuff)...
That'd do it methinks, what?

I'd like the idea of different ships, many many more ships all slightly different from their base depending on what the faction wants (i.e. if a faction gives you lots of cargo missions, then the base speed is reduced but more internal space for cargo etc.)

They would all need a design though rather than just procedurally generated crap.

WOW... neither Gran turismo has that much cars... (removing variations ) I don't feel 300 ships is even viable... cause Balancing...

Also when you get that big numbers some ships might just be variations or pretty much the same ship with a resking... because theres no much elso to change beetween then

Which is why many of them won't be winning beauty contests any time soon.

yeah... but also they are beliavable... I mean... WHO THE FRAK would build a nacele so easy to target , I know start trek fans will hate me now....

Frontier are going to have to look at price as the primary means of balance. Some ships should out-perform virtually most other things out there.

A MiG-21 is never going to get an F-15 kill, while an F-22 or F-35 seems to be virtually unbeatable in today's world.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... ECM and ECCM would solve an awful lot of balancing issues if it was properly implemented (and not the joke of ECM we have now, which is an arcade-like EMP gun thing), as would proper stealth characteristics.
