Message for Cmdr

Yes it's rough, but don't be surprised when you're fighting for one side in a war if someone fighting for the other side tries to kill you.

Next time it happens head back in and join the other side, then you'll have an eagle watching your back rather then gunning for you.

I really don't get the mentality of some players "That guy killed me?! Ha! I'm going right back to...WHAT? AGAIN??! Ok. Let's get back and... OH NO!! Now I'm going right back and..."

Yep, sounds like a really good plan.

;)

I'm a noob pilot with a little ol' sidewinder and single pulse laser. I know, I'll jump straight into a brutal war zone. What could possibly go wrong .... ?

This message is for the guy in the Eagle preying on new players in the Fed Distress Signal Area

I would like to express my gratitude in killing me multiple times in the Fed Distress signal area, because I had no chance of even denting your shield. You have my congrats on killing a new player, job well done.

Sounds to me that your're just a bit miffed that you got killed by an obviously better player. I'd suggest that you stay out of the Fed Distress Signal Area or anywhere else where combat is fearce until you either have a better ship than the sidewinder, a better equipped ship or both until your fighting and piloting skills are better.

Lots of people saying it's expected in the warzone, but the OP never said he had time to choose a faction. If he did, and the Commander was an enemy then yes, the kill is justified. If he was shot as a yellow hollow triangle, it's nothing more then a d*** move. Not that anything can be done about it, but still. What I don't understand though how he ends up in the same instance every time. Last time I entered the Dreadnought instance, I only saw two Fed anacondas hunted by the entirety of the Eranin defence force. So I SCd out, then entered again. Lo and behold, a different instance.

It really surprises me that we have so many whiners and complainers in the Premium Beta, I genuinely thought the high price would attract only more mature, dedicated eliters, and the tantruming infants would would arrive much later....

Seriously, you buy a sandbox game which offers enormous depth and complexity, yet whine and complain if you can't master it in a weekend. You fly to a faction fight, an obvious magnet for other players, many of whom will naturally have better ships by now, then complain when they kill you before you can do the same to them. I'm sure there's a word for that kind of mentality, and I'm also sure it's not a very polite one.

I was flying my Eagle quite successfully yesterday evening in the area. Most poster have quite rightly mentioned all the points.

It is a case or kill or be killed. Once bitten twice shy - don't be fooled thinking a sidewinder can't destroy an Eagle - they can. Sure - if the Eagle didn't attack you, who is to say the other sidewinders won't?

If you die in your sidewinder - you get one for free (maybe, unless you upgraded weapons). In an Eagle - not so much - more costly. The risk is greater for an Eagle pilot.

There are other ways to make cash - I traded for a while in a sidewinder, looking at which stations accept what to make a tidy profit.

I do feel a little remorse when targeting out other human players (but believe me, if I see a red human player - you are my no1 target, due to the risk). Attacking a Human yellow - that is a no go for me (unless you have a juicy bounty on your head). The bounty hunter path is what I will be going for. Loving the resource collection area, just wish it was more spread out and less busy - no fun having the targets come to you.

PS - Naming and shaming....... I would prefer if these kind of posts did not have the commander name hidden. I wonder if this thread was about me (so vain I know). Since the behaviour mentioned shouldn't be shamed - as it is valid play style. Gladly, many of the posters agree.

Happened to me too, first night playing, went into combat zone, got attacked and killed by player!
My only complain is that I don't see this:

This game is amazing ;)

The thing that I find is in the Federal Distress call scenario is If I see a player lit up red on my radar, I will be attacked by them so I go for them first ... or run depending on the circumstances :D..

Last night I think I killed the same player twice (hard to tell as the pilots name was "backer xxxxx" ...and remembering a set of numbers in combat isn't easy for me:))

Now that wasn't me "Picking on them" ... it's just an enemy PC is the biggest danger to my ship in a faction based combat zone ... like "Federal Distress call"

If it was the same guy, they could have been looking for revenge .... I can't be having that !! :D

I've been in that scenario many times and have seen ships on the other side and they haven't all attacked me. I haven't attacked them either in some cases. I followed one guy around for a while and we looked at each other then flew off. Somestimes I feel like fighting with the Feds and others for the Eranin forces. It's going to happen because it is allowed to happen and I don't expect to experience anything different in Gamma.

I was just in there I picked a side then 4 people were instantly attacking me, I put all power to engines and jumped out, jumped back in on the other side, if your out numbered retreat, don't just stay there and be destroyed also if your chasing someone down and your being shot at break off the attack and go after the person who is shooting you, you will last longer and if you do and for the love of god if your being owned get out max power to engines and two too shields and slight dodging movements and jump out.
I wouldn't never thought of retreating. Never crossed my mind when I insta-sploded because I would normally blow up before turning around to return fire. I know when I can't win a fight, I usually bug out.

Plus going after players is more of a challenge, although in some cases not.

P.S. This game is ammmmaaazzziiingnngnggggggg....

Going after players in a Sidewinder with no chance of denting an Eagle, unless you have pretty good weapons, is definitely more of a challenge lol.

Can be deleted if need be by a moderator, no harm done. Lost 4 hours worth of work and just continues to have good time ruining it for the newer players...

Edit: Can't edit the original Title as it appears on the main discussion forum. Thread can be deleted if necessary.

I am "miffed", but not miffed about getting killed by a "better" player, but more of a "overpowered" player. In that respect, I'll expect you to be giving me a good amount of credits so I can get "better" equipment and a ship then.
I have "no" problem taking out other players in my Sidewinder, providing they are in a sidewinder as well. The moment you pit an Eagle, and or Cobra against a sidewinder, it's literally already over. Unless the guy in the opposing ship is intentionally sucking, which is rare.

Wholeheartedly agree. But encountered a different flavour last night. Entered the distress zone, and was using my usual tactic of only going after AI ships, and giving fellow players a chance to enjoy themselves rather than going after them. Ended up getting into a scrap with a fellow pilot though, and managed to take him out. He reappeared several minutes later, assuming after respawning back at the station and supercruising back out, and immediately engaged me. A good scrap ensued, and managed to take him out again.

So kept playing (full shield, but hull down to about 40%) when I suddenly found myself under attack - by a green triangle. I'm usually careful about keeping an eye on the scanner and not letting a red triangle get behind me, but obviously didn't give a second thought to someone on my side. His beam laser made short work of my stock sidewinder, and when I got to the death screen, it was the same pilot I'd taken out twice before (fairly).

I don't mind getting taken out by someone on the other side, but to me that was out of order.

You are failing to understand, that I'm not whining about anything in this Premium Beta. The game is fantastic, even with its occasional crashes or buggy docking sequences. What I'm whining about, is some overpower ship only targeting people in sidewinders, which have little to no shield defense, much less hull. The Eagle is a great ship, very powerful as well in the hands of a skilled pilot. But to pick on lesser players with little to no means to defend themselves, how else would you want them to react? Say "oh thank you, I love being lesser then you?" No, you would expect "some" sort of anger in some way. It's not like this is the only game where this has happened *cough* Eve Online *cough*, and I don't really give, but when the game comes to skill of the pilot, a great pilot will most likely never win against a better more powerful ship with another great pilot flying it.
Finding a decent terminology, it's like pitting a tank vs a truck with a 50 cal. The truck might do some external damage, but you wont expect the truck to survive long enough to destroy the tank...

I've had similar cases as well of people attempting to "teamkill" me, while in the Fed Distress zone. However, I just shrug it off and fly away. Funny thing is, my hud wants to turn the guy red, but is instantly turned green because of my faction choice.

Seems to be a popular lurk now. Lost everything due few poorly timed bugs, head out to rack up some NPC credits in the freebie Sidewinder, no humans there. Then a speed run Eagle appears knocking my shield out and hull egg shell thickness in one pass.

Once in that state your dead meat, can't out run, can't out turn. They must be lurking on the far side on edge of radar waiting for cheap human kills. Three times over an hour apart each this happened.

Makes life hard if you have to trade make credits.

I killed a lot of player Eagles in the Fed Distress zone yesterday (as well as getting shot up by them a couple of times too). I hope this karma makes you feel a bit better. Just wait till you have a Cobra!
