Horizons The advantages of staying outside the hanger

Are there any?

Not much other than maybe slightly faster liftoff when you want to leave. If you quit the game docked you are effectively put back into the hanger.

Worth keeping in mind. If you are docked but outside the hanger and have illegal/prohibited goods, you CAN be scanned by authority ships while on the landing pad. If you enter the hanger, they can't scan you.

So if smuggling.. dock and enter the hanger quick for safety sake. This is true for ouposts and stations.

Good info to keep in mind when I will do my next smuggling runs. Tho I never ever been scanned after entering an station or not in the hanger I might take your advice for granted :)

I've been scanned approaching the pad, but not on the pad. I hangar if I'm being shot at, but otherwise it is faster to get to the mission menu and just offload the goods.

If you're smuggling properly, you shouldn't get scanned at all.

it saves you part of the elevator sequence. but you still have to go through most of it plus an alternative turn animation.

If you launch without entering the hangar, it only drops half way. If you launch while entering the hangar, it drops all the way, but doesn't go into the bay. Not entering the hangar is the fastest.

Keep in mind if you leave it on a pad it can be destroyed. Best to hanger it until you get ready to leave.

No, no, and no. :(

Wow, thats news to me. Thousands of hours and i'm still learning things. Thanks you two, take a rep :)

Personally I hit return to hanger straight away after docking then do my stuff in the space station. If I finish quick enough (say I just need restock/repair) I can hit launch before the elevator moves me back and it skips the animation. If i'm going into the mission board I tend to exit and hit return to surface before opening it up so I can insta-launch when ready.

Yup +1

I wish there were more than one bay per pad. It'd be sweet seeing another ship come down the lift and park next to or across from you.
