Horizons I'm now telling people to NOT waste their money on this game.

The developers clearly don't like any criticism. But I can at least warn people in every social media opportunity I can not to waste their money on this game.

And here I have been enjoying this game more than ever... I guess I just don't know how to have fun!!!

I already wasted my money on this game.

By wasted, I mean, I wasn't supposed to buy this game. But I did anyway.

My girlfriend would consider it a waste. If she knew I brought it. :D

(Money well spent! Shhhh!)

I have ONLY done exploring. I don't mine, I don't hunt, I launch the ship and head as far away from civilization as possible. THREE times, now, I've been far into deep space, took a break to set down on a moon, only to come back some thirty minutes or so to find a blank screen with "your ship has been destroyed". Yet you can't tell the developers that there's anything wrong with this, and, apparently, YOU people don't find anything wrong with this, either. I spend countless hours heading out to as deep into space as I can, avoiding any contact. Yet, magically, something comes along and blows up my ship while it's just parked on a moon. And, of course, the developers don't see fit to include SOME mechanism for players to find out what happened and why. You just have lost all that time. There is no point. No point in bringing it up because the developers don't care and call any complaint "harassment"---clearly they don't know what that word actually means. So, if I can save some other poor soul who is contemplating getting this game, I'll do it.

Shame man, you'll never see the END GAME with atmospheric Landings and Aliens.
Feel free to PM you account details to me. I'm collecting them as Dog Tags ;)

When I'm away from the game, I ALWAYS quit to menu (if I think I'll be back after a short while) or quit to desktop (if I know I'll be gone for a long time). I park myself on moons/planets all the time and have yet to come back to a magically destroyed ship.

That's so sad.

With the huge following and immense respect you've garnered over the years with your concise insights on computer gaming, I'm terribly concerned this marks the day we will all look back on as the day that began the demise of ED.

What a sad day indeed.

Don't let the door...

Really?

Three times?

and you still haven't learned?

So what do you really think the problem is here?

Here we go again............

If I get to the stage where I feel I've wasted my money (1600hrs+ now) it's too late; I've already paid the money out.

And yet I feel I've had great fun, am still doing so and will be saving up for the purchase of season 3.

Are you doing anything like entering silent running? Your ship is quite capable of self-destruction if that's the case. Pilot error.

Always exit to the menu, or exit entirely if you're walking away. ALWAYS.

My guess is he ran out of fuel. Happened to me once and I learned my lesson.

Was back before we had the different res types and had found one spawning high value ships. After spending a couple hours fighting I needed a break and didn't want to lose the res instance so found a safe area where i could park for about 30 minutes. Came back just in time to see my iced up cockpit and about 30 seconds of oxygen left.

Won't make that mistake again.

It is clearly the fault of the developers for not removing AI from the game and not your fault for walking away from your computer while the game is running [/sarcasm]
Please do let the door hit you in the     on your way out

Wait, you came back to an unattended ship, found it exploded, and you're pointing the finger? And you repeated it two more times?

I parked my car in a a bad area once, came back to find it stolen. Fortunately I had insurance. It didn't occur to me, at that time, that it's perfectly sensible for me to blame Toyota for the incident, AND warn people off Toyota in future. Now I know.

Maybe we need a thread called "Steam relief valve" or "Whinge here, not there"
Then, when we cool down a bit, have a look at the pro's and cons to see if we have a genuine gripe to post.

Sorry for your loss, CMDR. AFK is amongst the top 10 dangerous things to do in Elite: Dangerous, learned the hard way by many CMDR's and now also you. Hope you can pick it up again, and enjoy this great game once more.

You either A) Ran out of fuel. Because you went AFK for too long, and didn't log off. (It takes hours to drain fuel while stationary)
B) Something did in fact attack you while you was AFK. Because you didn't log off.

Solution: Log off.

Admittedly, the death screen would benefit from saying why you died.
But the rest is on you.

There are plenty of bad reviews of ED floating about, especially since 2.1s initial release. A few more wouldn't hurt. :p

My review was overwhelming positive.
This game offers the most fun per £1 above any single other activity on the planet. (For me)

£40~ for 700+ hours of fun.
That's about 5p an hour if I worked it out correctly.
