Horizons I'm now telling people to NOT waste their money on this game.

I have ONLY done exploring. I don't mine, I don't hunt, I launch the ship and head as far away from civilization as possible. THREE times, now, I've been far into deep space, took a break to set down on a moon, only to come back some thirty minutes or so to find a blank screen with "your ship has been destroyed". Yet you can't tell the developers that there's anything wrong with this, and, apparently, YOU people don't find anything wrong with this, either. I spend countless hours heading out to as deep into space as I can, avoiding any contact. Yet, magically, something comes along and blows up my ship while it's just parked on a moon. And, of course, the developers don't see fit to include SOME mechanism for players to find out what happened and why. You just have lost all that time. There is no point. No point in bringing it up because the developers don't care and call any complaint "harassment"---clearly they don't know what that word actually means. So, if I can save some other poor soul who is contemplating getting this game, I'll do it.

So, as others pointed out, you went one time deep space and went AFK and came back and your ship was destroyed. Second time YOU did exactly the same error as the first time and went AFK thinking of some magic, but lets say you thought it was a rarely random incident...but the third time you did it again? Are you an NPC that somehow got self aware of his condition and wants to turn against his creators? Only bots are doing the same mistake over and over and over again and they don't have the ability to learn from those mistakes. I wonder....if you fall into an hole by mistake of not looking were you are walking...on the next day you fall in the same hole? Oh man if all of us start raging all day about what we don't like...I know I have a bag full of stuff I hate and I will somehow think again before spending money right away for this game and until some things will be fixed, but until now I had my fun from the money I spent as the CMDR_Cosmicspacehead is saying. Have fun and take care where are you walking dude :)

DISMISS SHIP

It's not hard - when you set out in your SRV, select "dismiss ship" then when you want to get back in your ship select "recall ship".

I agree that it is stupid that your ship can get attacked and blown up when you leave it parked on the surface, just live with that and DISMISS SHIP.

Don't blame the game for you not learning how it works.

Be patient and enjoy yourself.

Quick question to anyone listening at home:

You're on a moon, you're doing a low fly-by... You come across another, unattended ship just sitting there in the middle of nowhere with the lights on - What do you do?

Scan it and if it's clean, take some selfies.

Flip it. Then some selfie's

Well, it was fun reading through it. :)

Now I'd suggest letting it fall into oblivion, where it belongs.
I believe that by now, social media are literally flooded by OP, discouraging people from buying this game, so I expect the forums slowly turn more mature in the near future. We'll see if his mission succeeds.

OP is long gone

You guys were too rough on him

I agree. While it may be frustrating to hear from someone who, either by age or experience, is having a lot of trouble getting into Elite Dangerous. My instinct is to attempt to befriend this person. Join them in game and try to push them in the right direction. It usually doesn't take a lot of time to find out whether or not it's going to do any good. I have personally been rewarded many times by the joy of showing someone the proper way to start out. Have them truly enjoy the experience, and in many cases, converted a non believer. Funny though that THOSE people never log into the forums. [wink]

True, true. If OP posted about his problems in newcomers forums, we would be tripping over one another to help him.
However this statement of his doesn't really spark it.
There is a difference between trying to do a conversation and simply vomit words.

I think you just nailed it; if someone starts out by saying "I'm getting constantly blown up and don't understand how to make progress" the majority of experienced players are going to be fighting eachother for the privilege of giving out the best advice to help him gain an understanding of how the game works, but if that same person starts out instead by pitching his toys, blaming the game for his failure to progress and taking no responsibility for his own fate then everybody is going to say to him "See ya!"

If someone's drowning

I'll throw them a life preserver

If someone wants to learn how to swim

I'll be happy to teach them

If someone wants to urinate in my pool

I'm pretty sure I'll be much happier if they just go somewhere else

Sneakily shoot the engines out.

Then wait for their return. Lol
Make sure they know to reboot and repair before self destruction!

Then escort them to a repair shop and donate some high value cargo. :p

Unfortunately on these forums it is more like:

If someone's drowning
Drain the pool
If someone wants to learn to swim
Ask them why they can't already walk on water
If someone wants to urinate in my pool
Boy will they be suprised when the find it is stocked with Candiru

What a crock of excrement. You get what you give around here; if you antagonize, bait, blame and whine you get jumped on, and if you ask for help and advice you get overloaded with experienced players willing to give it.

@DragoonKnight, if you ever come across me on a planetary surface and ram me hard, can I least have a cuddle afterwards?

One time came back to the game after not sending it away to find that it had been destroyed, twice more & still lesson not learned...
