Newcomer / Intro How to land on planet

I am trying very hard to land on Khun 5 where Martuuk is located. But for some reason my angle is too steep and I never get to her. It looks like she is on the other side of the planet, but that is not the case?? I landed before on other outpost, but i don't seem to get what the difference and all the radiance are??

Edited: could also not find training???

In 2.2 (beta) training has been improved I know but as not everybody has Horizons, I don't know if planet approach training is now included or not. Someone in the beta might be able to tell you.

This might sound like a simplistic suggestion, but you have tried entering orbital flight further from the base??

You could try the scary technique which is adjust your approach to the planet in cruise so that as you get close your time till arrival goes to 10-15 seconds rather than the usual 7 sec, then manoeuvre so that the target location for Martuuk is in the middle of the face you are heading for.
Now you have a choice if the gravity isn't too high just head straight for the outpost throttling back as you head straight down, at the drop altitude you will crash out of crise and some spinning will occur but you will be around 20-40 km above the centre of the outpost and will have sustained only minimal hulll damage. Just head down and apply for landing permission as normal.
The other approach is when you hit cruise pull up to a shallower angle and head off in that direction until you are halfway to the drop altitude then turn back to the outpost and just fly right at it. This should get you something between my drop like a rock approach and the ideal 3 stage approach.

In the 2.2 release coming in a few weeks the training missions have been revised.

Just gradually reduce your speed and don't descend too quickly. Once you drop out, you should be in a position to (slowly) bring your boat down.

drop into orbital cruise, flip upside down and rotate around the planet until the station appears on your side of the horizon then decsend down to it.. thats my technique

Thanx, is worth a shot!

No, that is not it, it keeps saying it is on my side, but it isn't??? it looks on my side, but ?? must do something wrong???

My technique is to still use the 75% power at 0:07.. I approach the planet from, say, the leftside with the base on the right just over the horizon
(circled in dottd lines).. use the whole planet surface to approach the base in Orbital Cruise..
then when the base comes into view again I fly parallel to the planet until my height is approx half my distance to the base..
eg height 200km/ distance 400km and the angle is between 25 and 35 deg..
I usually drop out o OrbitalCruise around 15km from the base at maybe 7km height.
Works for me :)

Solid Indicator = In line of sight
Broken up indicator = Behind something I.E. A planet.

The simplest way to approach at 75% throttle from 7 seconds to go. Fly round the planet until the indicator is solid & just on the Horizon then approach at a very shallow angle, get to within 100K & glide should kick in (depending on your height) It should drop out around 10K's from the base. Request landing & land.

Thanx for all the help; I finally got it... I tried to land on the middle of the planet instead of the outpost... Took me 12 attempts to find out there my target was not the right target.... Well, all is well that ends well: finally made it
