Systems for Community Tagging

I love to see systems with lots of different names associated with it. And it got me thinking - why not have a list of systems with lots of bodies that allows plenty of different Cmdrs the opportunity to take a tag amongst their peers?

I'm still on the far side of the abyss and have found a system with 40 odd bodies -it's still 62,333 ly from Sol so quite a trek:

I took the liberty of taking the ringed A4 so I could see how the view looks [28.8/-110.9]

Not too shabby :) and there's some polonium too which is always a bonus.

Hmm...I kinda like this idea. Maybe have some sort of very large system 65+kly out, and those who enter the 65,000LY from Sol club could claim a body in that system. It would be pretty nice to have the premier explorers share a tag in the same system :D.

I had the same idea near the end of this post https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/289004-That-Allitinil-fellow-is-certainly-thorough!

Here is my suggestion http://imgur.com/a/Etj3R

This system is 5,000 LY from the bubble and has 73 astronomical objects to discover (72 left).
I have only scanned the primary star.

I will make my way over to your suggested system after I can store my modified weapons Commander o7

I saw that I was only about 2k ly away from that system so I detoured over there. Now 71 left, took the liberty of scanning one of the gas giants around star B.

Will be some time till my tag shows up, because I have decided to go to Jaques via Sgr A* XD. I hope I'll find a good community tagging system near the center o7

Next stop, Omega Nebula!

it would be pretty cool if each system listed the first AND/OR last 10 CMDR's to visit it, (providing your beacon is turned on) bit like tagging but more interactive and up to date.

If the system map read; "CMDR XXX last seen here 27/09/3202 @ 15:40" You would be like wow they are somewhere close... let me msg them and play some OPEN / Multiplayer interaction

chance meetings in the open black would increase?!?

you could turn your beacon off if you didnt want interaction / stop people following you.

just a thought.

p.s. are you a bit OCD about your balance???

I like the idea of a visitors log per system but wasn't sure how it might be implemented without a great deal of storage. Limiting to last 5 or 10 fixes that. Nice one.

If you're referring to my nice round 5 mil.....I got that from rolling two impossible 6's.
[see my canonball thread. Lost 2 SRV's to death code 6. There's only 5 actual death codes. Support had a great sense of humour and paid out my winnings ;) Can't spend it in the black though, and self destruct in beta shows my data corruption/loss may be more extensive...I suspect a game save wipe is required :(]

Col Frost's system is so close to the bubble at 5000lys out that I decided to head on out there last night and put my name on one of the planets in BLAE DRYE AM-X B20-1.

Here is the system view, so far only Frost's tag is on the main star:

akWeZdy.jpg

So I carefully flew around looking at some of the planets in the system to find one that struck my fancy. You know after exploring tens of thousands of systems it's actually hard to fly to planets and NOT scan them, but I was careful to not scan anything until I found that one that called my name. And found it I did!!! I chose B2 to put my name on:

deZejcf.jpg

It's a little potato world in a close binary orbit with another little world out around the second far star, a good 28,000ls out from the jump in point. When I found it the planet was in the shadow of it's brother, but the orbital period is so quick that as I flew around in orbital cruise it partially came out into the sunlight. It was then I noticed several patches of fog regions scattered about the hills and valleys. I decided to head down and land for a closer look:

pEDRi5T.jpg

It actually got pretty thick down at the surface, but I found a canyon through the mist which looked cool and decided to put down in it.

I had a ball driving around down there, B2 is a very fun and scenic planet to explore. After too long a time though I went back to the Amity 2 and decided to head for the bubble to hand in my data. On the way out of the fog zone though I saw a big blue blip on the surface scanner, something was down there! I headed down for a look see but I couldn't find the source of the contact with the ship, so I set back down again and started searching with the SRV...

...and this is what I found:

Looks like I am not the first commander to ever land on this planet! The escape pods strewn among the wreckage were all broken and ruined though, so whoever crashed here never lived to tell the tale. Probably lost their bearings in that heavy fog and impacted on the surface.

With that mystery solved I left my B2, maybe I'll visit it again someday!

Still plenty of other planets to claim in BLAE DRYE AM-X B20-1.

Wow, +1rep. So cool to see the ball rolling with this one. Your pics and description of your adventure are both stunning.
I might have to visit again myself and land on your planet, as I can scan it now too :)

Great work Commander (sorry disorganise not trying to hijack your thread, but I just find it exciting to actually see this happening :))

I don't see it as 'my' thread. I'm stoked to see others picking up the idea. Actually, it AWESOME!!

I'd really like to see a couple of commanders double team one of the bodies, not sure what the maximum number of joint first discoverers you can have :)

How about a Planetary Community Nebula? Quite far away from SOL but not as far from Jaques.

I present you BRAIRUIA JH-U E3-4963
The Neutron Star, the first brown dwarf and the two blue Gas Giants i marked, have been scanned by me and 2 other CMDRs. So theres 60 more bodies to go :D

Nice one :D

I'm happy to join the fun. A small rocky world, right at the very back of the class is what I'm looking for. I need to rack up another 300k LY for my million club entry anyways...

Now the problem, of course is the darn ™ that decides to take it all for themselves, a-la my Trilateral Point experience...

Z...

™...love it, rep for that :p
This is a good reason for having it very far outside of the bubble...to ensure that some Bubble Head doesn't stumble upon it and claim everything...who knows how a Bubble Head thinks. Only true, elite explorers should be able to get there, not some Bubble Head :p.
If you are a Bubble Head...I apologize in advance :p.

So I went back out to BLAE DRYE AM-X B20-1 because, since 2.2 added volcanism to planets, I noticed that my tagged planet in the community system has iron magma on it! Since it's a rather small potato world I figured it wouldn't be too hard to find some. Turns out though that it took quite a bit of searching all over that little round ball, but finally, near the north pole, I found iron magma fumeroles:

TF1rQhI.jpg

They weren't very active at all, in fact they were pretty tame. I think that's because they don't get much sun exposure up at the north pole, the nearby star stays very low on the horizon so they never get heated up at all. At least they lie in a very scenic canyon though:

There are likely other magma features on the planet somewhere, I'll look a bit more before I get back on my way. With the shear number of other planets in this system though I'm sure there is better surface activity to find here.

Doh! Forgot to check where I was :( Sailed right passed.
Thought about chucking a u-ey but decided to make it the first trip post engineers...assuming I can successfully do engineery stuff o7

Nice idea Disorganize! I remeber when I reached Beagle Point more or less 20 CMDRs had been there, and they tagged only an object per system (apart an infamous one lol).

That felt really good, there are few stars there and those system told the tale of shared fatigues and brotherhoods.
