VR DEVICE ready, but what other peripherals you guys are using.

i bought elite before it was out but never able to play it due lack of proper TRAINING. well game deserves an applause for that. hard learn and master. loving it. just 2 weeks ago re started to play with my :

1- TRUSTMASTER WARTHOG Joystick and Thruster set.

ED is like created just for that device. amazing. but there was something missing .YAW device; which i ordered from amazon:

2- CH Products Pro Pedals USB Flight Simulator Pedals ( 300-111 )


and unplugged my USB cable KEYBOARD and MOUSE, plugged

3- MS designer keyboard and mouse set which are bluetooth .

there is a little owngap between OCULUS and my nose. i can see my table and keyboard there so i can manage to access some basic keyboard stuff

Still sometimes i took off the OCULUS to type system names to search etc. aim not even a normal player. i have MK3 of what was it? Cobra MK3. still learning what weapons are good what MASS is, what internal core devices r good with other devices etc. internet is full of info. game is a bit mature from the beginning inter of game sources .

what i don't have is FRIENDS ?

Tried an assassination mission last night. i actually guessed about if the price is high enemy is not alone. yet when i FOUND him in specific time zone i dropped out hyper jumping and there he was , with his i couldn't count but at least 4 buddies . couldn't make a run or fight.

Such shame i lost my all bounty successes while coming to this guy. when u dead u loose all other missions u do right? i can understand a cargo and info is lost able , but the bounty ? common [haha]

ok lets not head another topic from my topic title. what do u guys own and how u access all stuff while VR gaming?

I have similar stuff, but the only time I peek through the nose gap is to check the FPS, or if typing numbers or special symbols. Otherwise, everything is mapped to the HOTAS or keys I can easily identify, like the function keys. And I use touch typing for entering system names or chat, although I prefer voice chat for that. My problem is taking notes, which I just don't bother with anymore because I haven't traded in ages. I pretty much just screw around these days.

Voice Attack is a great app for ED and flight sims like DCS. I use it to call up my display panels, system and galaxy map, toggle flight assists, request songs from my music library on long trips and so much more. So handy for $10, although I also have Ivona Amy which is pricey but so much nicer than Windows default voice synthesizer.

i mean other software on mobile phones which uses ENGLISH language recognizes my voice easly but on pc with my headset , Voice attack didnt get me somewhere.

Ctrl+F for FPS. You can't see it in VR, but you can see it on the monitor screen. You can also use the performance HUD in the SDK.

The Rift has an excellent hidden microphone!

You need to train your computer to recognize your voice. R-click on the speaker, select record devices, select the Rift Microphone, select configure, and then select Train My Computer To Recognize My Voice. Something like that anyway.

You'll also probably need to set up the mic from the configure screen. Speak LOUDLY so the levels will get set a little lower than 100%.

I'm a lefty. as much as i have tried to 'train' myself to use my stick right handed (logitech extreme 3D pro' I just can't. I have no 'finesse' when it comes to stick control. so annoying because i would dearly love a fancy HOTAS. amazingly, my mouse control with my right hand is far stronger than my left, i eat right handed, play golf right handed but i just cannot control a joystick with my right hand.

I use a Logitech G13 gameboard with the stick and use the analogue stick built into that for throttle control. all of my commands are bound to the G Keys on the gameboard and the stick, muscle memory helps me in these situations and i rarely use the keyboard when i'm in VR. with the stick and G13, the galaxy map is a breeze. only time i need to lift the rift is if i need to type in a system.

I plan to invest in voice attack for sure but using it in the evenings might be problematic, (kids, other half etc)

Full CH HOTAS myself: ProPedals, ProThrottle, and a Fighterstick. I've been using CH's scripting language to enhance its functionality, so everything I could ask for is mapped to something, plus I added some advanced functions as well. Fortunately for me, I can touch type, so it's just a matter of pulling the keyboard drawer forward when I need it.

ah Rubix, I too am a south paw. before Elite I had always used a saitek av8r and even had plans to build a custom lefty hotas. I totally understand the frustration with trying to learn a right hand hotas but i can tell you that if you take it slow...really slow in stations lol, that it will become second nature. I recent tried my friends 3D pro with my left hand and it felt alien to me. it does in fact take a lot of practice but man is it worth it. the feel of a mounted X-52 coupled with the immersion of an oculus rift is second to none .

@ the OP, you'll want a serious sound system...trust me when i tell you your literally missing out on 50% of the game without it. doesnt have to be loud but it does have to be powerful. I also highly recommend the use of low frequency transducers like a BK gamer kit or bigger.

Here's something that helped me use Voice Attack...

Wipe all the commands and start from scratch. Set up the minimum number of commands as you can for Voice Attack, and make the sound differences for each of the commands as distinctive as possible.

I'm pretty sure that speech recognition uses the system language. I've never tried anything but English/US myself, but if your system is set to French, then the speech training should be done in French. I don't think Voice Attack cares what language you are speaking, as long as it can recognize it, and it uses the Windows Speech Recognition. Of course, the program is in English and expects an English keyboard, so there may be some limitations with other languages and keyboard layouts. Also, for best results, go through Speech Recognition Training at least twice.

I'd hope someone can confirm or deny this.

The problem could also be if you haven't configured your microphone and it can't hear you very well.

Regarding to Voice Attack, i use it in German. No problem at all. Cliché is absolutly correct, it uses the speech system from your Windows, so you can use your native language.

I have a very nice Sennheiser headset I bought myself last Christmas.
I never tried it with the Rift as I'm happy with its headphones and mic.
Now I wonder if I'll ever use my headset again. [blah]

edit : wait i have Voicebot pro. not voice attack. hmm . think i tried it a while ago and it was not working well. thats why i dint buy it.

I would agree with this. I've been forced to use headphones recently (due to moving to a place where sound is not suppressed quite as well as my last place). I really miss my 5.1. The surround mixing in this game is outstanding. This, coming from someone who has been designing and installing high end home theater for 20 years...

Windows recognizes speech based on the language version you are running, So, if you are running an English version of Windows the voice training tutorials are in English. Voice Attack's menu system is in English, however, there is no reason you could not use your native language to give commands in Voice Attack itself. Also even if you train Windows in English and have a heavy accent, as Windows uses and compares waveform from training, the more you train it the more it will recognize how you pronounce given words despite any accent.
