You ever have one of those days..?

Unfortunately for yours truly, the release of Premium Beta has coincided with the busiest time at work for me (damn you, FD, you inconsiderate ******s!) so haven't been getting nearly as much time in as I'd like. Still stuck on the basic kit out, haven't scraped enough yet for the Eagle, let alone the Cobra.

Anyways, yesterday I made sure I worked through lunch, and sliced off a couple of hours later in the day to get in there and faff about for a bit.

First three attempts at logging in were fruitless - spinning sidewinder of fun for 10-20 minutes at a time, which forced me to use the task manager to try again. After about three quarters of an hour, there I was finally at Azeban ready for launch. Got my clearance, couldn't take off, because my controls had somehow reset themselves. Pause, options, controls... and reassigned every key again. NOW I can take off... but as soon as I exit the no fire zone, two AI sidewinders jump me. Oooh, bit of action, nice! Only... why aren't my hardpoints deploying?!? What do you mean I have no fire groups set!?!? What the... BOOM!

Deep breath, start again.

Off I launch, into the void. This time, all's quiet outside, but there's a pile of canisters of gold floating about. Woohoo! Bit of luck tonight at last! Fill up my meagre cargo hold, and am about to head back to the station to sell my ill-gotten gains, when BOOM. A fellow backer's sidewinder slams into me at full pelt, shields gone, and hull down to 30%. And wait, there's those sidewinders again. B*gger b*gger b*gger, shields aren't recharging fast enough, evasive maneuvers... BOOM.

Deep breath, start again.

No messing about this time, head straight for the Fed Distress call, and take out my mounting frustration on some Eranian Defence Craft. Drive charging, and off we go. As usual the trip was uneventful, no interdiction, jump out at the target point and... there my screen sits for 20 more minutes, doing the hippy hippy shake with no sign of me actually coming out of it.

Deep breath, start again.

This time I actually made it to the distress call. Come out of supercruise, all pips to shields until I get my bearings, choose the Fed side, and off we go. Noticed immediately there were three or four fellow commanders, but all on the opposing side. Oops! But I've made my bed, now its time to lie in it. Bagged a pair of NPCs, while keeping one eye on the scanner, making sure none of the other side were getting behind me. Was on the tail of my third bogey, who was making straight for the dreadnaught. Had his shields gone, his hull down to 6% when... crash.

Deep breath, start again.

Get to the distress call, come out of supercruise, and get back to work. Declare for the Feds again, forgetting the cloud of Eranian players, one of whom immediately engages me. Gets a good couple of hits on me before I realize what's what, and deploy my hard points. Nothing. No weapons assigned to fire groups. Again. While I'm getting pounded by another player.

At this point, I did a quite selfish thing and rage quit. What I SHOULD have done is sat there and let my opponent have their kill. I know if someone did that to me (and they have done) I'd be fuming. So if that commander is reading, my apologies.

Three hours in front of my computer, and I'd gotten a total of about 10 minutes of actual game time, most of it spent in supercruise. But at least the weekend is almost here.

Deep breath, start again.

Maybe it's your workplace that are inconsiderate... people have lives and gaming is fun and exciting... :D

I had one of those days today.

Log in all ready to trade with the 11,000 creds I had carefully built up. I go to load up my cargo hold and "alert" I cannot afford what I'm buying. I check my creds - I have 1,000. Great. So I was reset.

I can live with that (again) so I buy some cheap stuff to start trading all over again. Ready to go to Dahan, click out to options menu to check a binding and *BOOM* ship destroyed. Guess someone got assigned my landing pad and tried to land on me.

So, clear save, start all over again. Buy stuff, fly to Dahan, enter station, beginning my descent to the landing pad and *BOOM* ship destroyed. I can only guess someone was flying too fast and rammed me.

Oh well, time to eat some dinner and come back to a fresh start all over again.

You have them now and again.....chin up and keep trying :)

Ah yeah, it's easy to forget that it's a beta, we're here to test it and progressing and accomplishing things are supposed to be secondary. To be honest, all the annoyance and frustration was gone the second I shut down, and was actually replaced by a helping of guilt for rage quitting mid-dogfight. (well, wasn't really a fight, since I didn't have any weapons for some reason, but you get my meaning!)

I had one of those days today as well.
Bought some coffee to trade and try to swoop out of the station in a graceius arc. Well the arc left me boosting my wing of against the letterbox.
I wake up in my sidewinder, load up on some new cargo. And select "launch". "Why am I moving forward on the launch pad?" The Hotas was still on full throttle..sigh

OK so no money for trading of to the extraction zone. I bagged some irdite, but no station let's me sell it. Well back to chango. Que 20 minutes of screen shaking...multiple times. I quit after that.

Started up turrets in space. Where you can get to vanduul wave 10 by only setting your throttle to 100% and "flying" with your mouse.

The nice thing about having those days is that occasionally you have "other" days.

Went back there in my shiny new Eagle last night (would've been around 3am GMT) and there were only a couple of fellow players racking up kills, luckily all on my side. Came nose to nose with one, and did the ship-to-ship dance - flashing lights, little spins, back and forths. Was actually really nice to actually come across someone in game who was friendly, as opposed to being on the hunt for credits. Well, nice until the ****** rammed me! (Accidentally, am sure. Right? RIGHT?!?!?!).

This was followed by an enjoyable hour of ganking NPC Fed Fighters, and for that hour, was definitely a sense of "honour among pilots". We all avoided nicking final shots on each others' kills to poach credits, I cleaned a couple of bandits off another players six while his/her shields recharged. An hour of (bug free) play that definitely had my faith in everything renewed.

Well, until another Eagle mysteriously appeared out of nowhere and blew me out of the sky before I knew what was going on. (Damn that "frozen Eagle" bug!) Although the wife was just getting home from her night out with the girls, so had to shut down at that point anyways. (Congrats on the kill, whoever you are!)

My turn this evening. Didn't had to start all over again, but lost 2/3 of everything, which wasn't all that much... Oh well...
