I was in an NPC Wing in the beta last night. I was in a Taipai fighter with a Battle conda off my wingtip. Worked brilliantly and multi-player will expand on that.
That's not NPC Wings as you already know. I want Python or FDL NPC wingmates, something you can't have when in Solo.

Isn't this an autopilot poll in disguise?

Dont get me wrong I'm thumbs up on a very basic A to B autopilot anyway but at time of writing this I'm surprised by the current 80% in favour.

It's usually 70% against with the usual 'why not have the ship, make you a cup of tea, auto combat, auto interdict, auto trade' dross that gets extrapolated into these suggestions.

That's exactly what it is. I see everyone rushed to vote in the AP poll, this one's hardly been touched. I think people have realised what they were arguing against now.

2.3 have to bring NPC multicrew management. Limiting Multicrew to players only will lead to frustration and bad reception of this other important update.
Yes, yes, and YES!
NPC multicrew is my most wanted new feature. (well, that and a crime&punishment overhaul ;))

Yes on having an NPC copilot for every two-seater plus ship in the game. I don't care if all they do is hold their joystick in a suggestive manner :p I just don't want to be alone in that cockpit any more when it's blatantly screaming "Co-pilot! Co-pilot! My kingdom for a giant furry co-pilot!"

It's about time the games' world stops feeling so empty like me and a scant few CMDRs are the only thing that's alive in the whole Universe in amongst all the abandoned automated stations with their pre-programmed voice messages and drone operated trucks, the reclusive trading card images of Engineers who mysteriously tweak your ship without you ever seeing them face to face and all the automated drone ships flying around out there with their text-only messages. We desperately need some "Johnny 5 is alive!" moments here people, devs and cats.

Decisions. Decisions. I can't make up my mind...

-- Is the technical term for this, poll-dancing?

I'm voting 'no'.

- You mentioned A.I. A.I's have significance in lore don't they?
- A co-pilot should not be made to be, or feel to be, mandatory.

No, now it's just presented in a more "lore-friendly" version, so to speak. Rather than having an AI do it for you, you've got to pay some schmuck to hit three buttons every hour or so.

Granted, I don't really care either way, but some people think the "MUH IMERSHUNS" argument is always right. Now, they can have all the IMERSHUNS they want, and a simple co-pilot to boot. Maybe we'll get player-friendly game mechanics out of it, for a change.

NPC, or AI multi crew was mandatory in the old games. You could not move from the station unless you had a full crew. Let's have it again and make them relevant once more.

It won't be mandatory. That would be stupid. If you can fit a copilot in your sidewinder, contact the Bureau of Galactic Records.

And it's a Y E S from me.
Precondition: it's an animated "lieving" 3d model you actually can see flying your craft and you talk to or at least has real voice acting voices like the ATC we already have.
Else. .no. (no Need for an orange text on black Background Autopilot Switch )

OK but you have the choice not to buy a docking computer as you have the chocie not to buy an AP. Given that you can have fun by not buying it, how can you possibly say no to an AP? An Ap vs AI Crew would obviously be different as they'd perform differently since your AI crew should be able to get better.

So you like things that only add gameplay for you?

Not in a selfish way but yes as I assume every idea put forward would of course be optional and therefore feel quite happy to say that I don't like something. While the AP may well be your absolute ideal purchase and make the game complete I would choose not to buy one for the reasons given yesterday, during which at no time did I imply that I would or would not buy an AP just that I did not want it as I feel it just makes players lazy but change it into a mechanic that requires attention and offers improvements over time it would be something I would be interested in.

I think we should popularise the term "MUH GAME MEHKANIIKS" so that "MUH IMMERSHUNS" doesn't get delusions of OP-ness :)

Yeah, a limited tasked npc copilot as crew member would be nice, and open up other activities with space legs

If it is AI-Crew co-pilot or auto-pilot.

I would love to have some quality of live improvement like this.

Manually jumping long distances is so much no-fun gameplay I can't tell.

If I at least had my hands free to read a book and watch for alerts (interdiction, out of fuel) I would clap my hands and be happy.

Also I would not mind to have an AI co-pilot or autopilot for long SC travels.

YES! I want some tech or AI-co pilot to deligate the task of A-B flights.

I may be wrong but, my understanding was Multi-Crew referred to multiple Commanders. I thought AI Crew was not in the cards.

It's pretty obvious. Why go to the effort of adding Crew which we can only carry 1 and not even see them although they're supposed to be!
Rid the 3D printer and allow 2 Fighters at same time and make them sit in our Cockpits. No remote either - make them go pilot them and if they lose their Ship they also get to use the escape pod which now must be made visible is all Ships.

Yes.

Of course there should be NPC crew, thats a pretty basic feature, like exploration and mining ehemmm... ok lets not get that way.

But the AI needs to be improved a lot, the areas in this game are pretty open and the collision detection ir really bad.

Multicrew will be for me one of the most important features and I hope the gameplay starts to become more complex. :)

There's simply no difference between letting the AI fly your ship and....letting the AI fly your ship.

I gave you a +1 on this line alone.
Never would have guessed the vote on AI crew flying your ship would go in the opposite direction as the autopilot vote.
This place is bizarro-world.
