Icourier wow just wow

Hence my remark to put the heavy duty mods on the lightweight bulkheads. they will not suffer from the increase in weight.
Ah I thought you could only mod hull armour if you've upgraded it from stock? If that's not true I've been misinformed (and have some engineering to do) :)

Yes, upgrade that basic hull. I too thought you couldn't do that but you can. I loved the icoourier, but have not engineered it yet. Unfortunately The engineer grind is easier with a larger ship, so I have been working my larger ships first.

Yeah, the Courier is a fighter, not a slugger. Having it be light and maneuverable and fast while letting your huge shield tank soak up the hits when someone manages to get fire on you is the best.

I sold my Courier, though, sadly. but I got most of it memorized. Not all, though. Here is what I can remember

Hardpoints:
1 medium beam laser (fixed, on the nose, lightweight mount mod)
2 medium seeker missile launchers (on the wings, larger magazine mod, no experimental)

Utilities:
2 A-rated shield boosters along the spine (1 heavy duty mod, other thermal resist mod)
1 chaff launcher and 1 ECM (on the wings, for aesthetics)

Core Internals:
A rated Powerplant (Increased power mod, with only one laser heat isn't a huge issue)
A rated Thrusters (dirty tuned)
A rated Distributor (charge balanced)
D rated life support and sensors
A rated FSD (increased jump range)

Optional Internals:
3A shields (shield strengthening mod)
3D fuel scoop

uhhh, I forget the rest of the optionals. I kept a lot of the slots EMPTY though, because I didn't need them and it saved a ton of weight and power allotment. do NOT use hull reinforcement. It won't add enough to make a difference, and if it does, all it will do is weigh you down and make you easier to hit and make it harder for you to escape a fight that has gone bad. Speed was my tank. I could boost up past 540 something and my normal speed was nearly 400. And with all the weight saving and dirty tuned thrusters I could out turn my A-rated vulture (which wasn't modded). And those dual missile launchers were seriously mean, providing the other ship has no countermeasures. Again I designed mine to mainly fight other small ships. And in that regard it was a beast. I mean it really outperformed nearly every other small ship out there. Against larger ships, their countermeasures will whittle your missiles down. But when I was able to land hits (I always selected their drives on the sub-targets menu) 2 or 3 volleys would destroy their engines, allowing you or a wingmate to pick them off.

I used my ship as, well, a fighter. In a wing which other people where in clippers or condas, my little Courier was a welcome addition and really balanced things out. And could easily hold its own.

Remember this rule. Module strength and hull strength do NOT matter in a Courier. Your shields and agility/speed DO. I never died in my Courier and never overheated (I'd get "heat critical" messages, but never damage) even with my choice of mods.

Thankie BFD Slayer i will stick to the plan and all your advices as soon as i'll get some time for.

I never tried the missiles so it's now or never ! xD (and i hope it'll be usefull in order to shoot ground bases defenses too ><).

Take this rep+ ^_~

Wow thanks to you & broadsword I owe ya one..

This is excellent news for the survivabilty of my ships rocking standard bulkheads in order to keep their jump range up, my asp & cutter give their thanks :D

Great fun for bounty hunting. It's sheer manoeuvrability and speed gives it the edge over most.
Lacks the sheer punch of the Vulture, but still a fun little ship.

I have 2 Pack-Hounds and 1 Medium Multicannon on my iCourier so that I can recreate my TopGun/Ace Combat fantasies in space *plays 'Danger Zone' in the background* [cool][up]

The iron sights on the end of the nose with the two blue dots are they useful for fixed beams?
..not as useful as your HUD reticle? Do you want to play without lock / sensors or something.. If so I guess they'll help yeah

I approve of this loadout
(assuming MC is fixed)

Fixed is very difficult, it can take fifteen minutes to take down a Viper III. But you can chew up a Python in 5. I use them because they're fun - gimballed are way more effective against medium/small ships

By the way, I did a level 1 upgrade on my power plant at Farseer, just using one piece of sodium or something. I got a 11% power increase allowing me to use a fixed beam, two PAs, a 3A shield and three A0 shield boosters. It's a little monster

I don't have a courier yet but have you guys tried modding D class boosters instead of A? Heavy duty is horrible for weight, 3-4 times the weight! If you go with d that saves you a good 10 tons per booster with only about 10-15% less shield boost. Also uses way less power. I put one on my FDL and it rocks.

By the way, of you do happen to choose PAs - they are great fun - then please make sure you do not miss. Or this will happen.

I haven't given it a thought. I'll try that, thanks

just been to the old tart at farseer and faffed about with grade one stuff and ooooooooooolala may have to faff about with some grade 3 stuff, whacked some grade one light weight mounts on the beam and MC bring the weight down, also first actual added special magic things for a weapon. only thing is its a healing beam so if you need me to tickle your bottom I'm on it

Do you have prismatic shields? With boosters and a prismatic shield you can get around 600 mj then engineer the poo poo out of her and fit one fixed beam with heat dispersion and two corrosive multicannons, it's great fun

Prismatic shields are very heavy, seems counterproductive on a light build.

What's an achievable top speed on a relatively well armed, and well shielded courier build? My current FDL build boosts to 509 m/s with 1100 hull and 850 biweave, high resistance shields. If I drop the heavy duty HRP I can hit 514 m/s. What kind of numbers can I expect from a courier?
