Horizons Commodities buy-limits determined by ship size?

[noob] I did not realize that the limits on the amounts of commodities that a CMDR is able to purchase from a station or settlement is determined by the size of ship he or she is flying. Bought a T-9 for the most recent CG and found that when I was purchasing the desired commodity for the CG while flying the T-9 my buy-limit was 203 "units" but when I went back with my Anaconda my buy-limit was reduced to 93. Returned in my Corvette and my buy-limit was raised to 132. These values remained constant over several trips and re-starts of the game. I wonder if these limits are tied to a ship's cargo capacity, or mass or what? I do not believe the system's political situation would have caused that much fluctuation over a few hours or do you think it is entirely RNG? :S

It's not about buy limits, it's about what is available at that particular moment in time. Supply drops (especially during CG's) as more people visit and buy that particular commodity.

EDIT: Should add I'm only talking about standard Commodities. Not Rare goods. They are a different kettle of fish.

I cannot accept that answer yet because those limits remained constant over several laps in a single ship but changed, per ship over a very short period of time (<1 day) i.e.: 5 trips over 2 days in the T-9=203 units per buying-cycle. Come back 1/2 hour later with the Anaconda=93 units/cycle. 3 laps, same limits. Come back a couple hours later with a Corvette=132 units/cycle. The limits are never more than you can buy at one time, the limits seem to always be a fraction of total cargo capacity. Example: If I fly to a station in a T-9 and fill my 500 ton holds over 50 minutes at 100 tons every 10 minutes, if someone else flies into the station at the same time in an Asp-X does that CMDR also get a buy-limit of 100 tons/cycle? No.

Anybody wants to test this with me we can do it when the next CG rolls in . . .

I know what you are talking about but IMO it isn't anything to do with ship size.....

Last CG I was in, found a System 1 hop away with pretty much critical supply, by which I mean it was just over my 'Vette capacity. Having bought the stuff, the supply available decremented properly, leaving just a few tons remaining.
Did the delivery, returned. Exactly the same "slightly over my capacity" amount available. This cycled several times, then I had to stop playing for a while. When I returned, much the same scenario, however now the "usual" amount was about double my cargo capacity. Again, decremented properly, delivered, returned, Same new amount available.......

So tl:dr - I did not find that the limits were a fraction of my total capacity......

the station i used for the imp station CG had a 200K supply of Power Gens dropping to 125k @ times when lost of CMDRs were docking

Theses levels were constant through out the CG
