So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Yup. I was convinced we'd cracked it way back when. So many of these clues point towards Cass A.

Yeah ^^ it was quite fun even if it was wrong.

Anyhow, I will likely return to the rift with my souped-up ASP/X "Pandora Can Opener" in november-december.
There are some loose ends in that line of inquiry that I need to tie up, especially in light of the EAFOTS and Giraffe clues.

Hi, I set out for the Rift finally this week. I've signed the roster, downloaded EDD and am loading my route onto EDSM each night.

I was looking for a link to the Formidine Discord channel, do you have one?

I think Fleetcomm is what you are looking for. Will add a link when I get on later tonight.

Some thoughts regarding Salome's trial:
  • Whoever arranged for her capture does not want her dead, yet. They had the chance to kill her when her ship was interdicted and she could have been killed in the boarding or at any time since.
  • She was probably captured because of what she might reveal and/or because of actions she might take against her enemies. (Personally, I don't think she had anything to do with the attempted assassination of Patreus).
  • The primary objective of the trial is likely to be to destroy her credibility, not to get her the death sentence. This would allow her enemies to discredit whatever she might reveal and to prevent her rallying support against them. If she dies with her credibility intact, it could be bad for them as she could become a martyr and her cause might get even more support than if she were alive.

Following this thinking, the best way to help might be to pay careful attention to the testimony of Salome and her accusers and to try and find ways to provide evidence in support of Salome and refuting the evidence presented against her.

Those are bits that bother me regarding current events. In case Partheus is behind all this (which I do not take for granted especially having Salomé's recent exchange with blue Princess) the easiest course of action, if he wanted to cover something up, would be to just shoot her somewhere deep space and blame it on Feds/Pirates/Space EU or barnacles. Hell why even bother blaming someone, she wouldn't be the first drifter to disappear in void. Then, just to be safe, discredit CoR and proclaim them terrorists (they know they are not making it more difficult for him) and you are pretty much done...

Current hijinks regarding flashy trial seem to me more like Partheus (or whoever's behind) is trying to learn something about the mystery rather then cover it up. If you think about it, what better opportunity could Salomé wish for if she wanted to reveal something than high profile, publicly known and press monitored trial?

Plus it would be just delightful plot twist seeing Partheus turn up from villain to the one who was desperately trying to give Salomé space to unveil the mystery.

Ok, I'm going to readjust my tinfoil hat now.

Apparently I am a DrewCarnegie fanboi so I can't rep you again, but yeah. I barely have the motivation to grind my own account.

I was out exploring a long way from the bubble and got the urge to do something else for a little while so I bought a second account. Its a blast, there is no reason to grind on it I can always switch to my main account. It also give me a good reason to fly some of the ships I never flew on my main account, I started in Beta so many of the ships weren't in game when I was grinding up my main account. My secondary now has a nice cobra with no mods, and just hit 30 mil after completing a CG last night. Meanwhile my main account is slowly heading out to H & S.

Getting a second account is becoming increasingly tempting.
My main is heading 'eastwards' towards a neutron star on the galactic rim, which makes Rift-related investigations in the bubble somewhat tricky.
I just don't look forward to the work involved in getting to level 5 with Felicity/Elvira so I can have a decent jump range again.

I spent so much time grinding to get my Anaconda and build it, now I feel like I'm grinding ranks with Empire and Feds, for me it's almost like there is too much content. I miss slaving in my Asp... Perhaps I'll go back to that now that it has like a 47ly Jump range..... Makes Robigo runs so much easier.

I had to head back to the Bubble a few days ago, my ship was starting to fall apart from too many close encounters with stars while refueling. Whoops.

However, I documented my month in the Rift from an IC perspective, which can be found here, if anyone's interested.

As for Cas A, I'm wondering how it would line up with the Polaris Arrow I discovered when mapping out the other stars in the constellations? Of course, we need to find it first.

It would really be great if they offered a second CMDR slot or an option to buy one. I can't imagine paying for all the expansions twice with the current system. Plus, I have the lifetime season pass.

It's easy - just sell them all you data.

Both my son and I have the Lifetime Expansion. He generally doesn't play except during the Beta releases so that gives me my 22nd slot :)

There's good reason for a show trail, Kahina has dishonored the Empire and everyone it in. Executing her would an honor killing. Just like honor killing the importance of what she did by turning her back on the Empire and what that means is as incomprehensible as setting your sister on fire because she talked to the boy next door over the garden wall if you don't live in that society. She'd be less popular than Jane Fonda playing on the Viet Cong anit-aircraft guns. These people are more tight- than gossiping grannies in a Bronte novel. I can't even think of something equivalently offensive in Western society, maybe Kim Kardasian becoming an ISIS recruiter, because like her Kahina is a bit of a celebrity in the Federation and Alliance too.

22nd slot? You really love this game!

Why do I suspect he is only ALLOWED to play during beta - because that's when he can't screw up 'his' commander :D

"But dad, I wanna fly the 'conda!"
"Shut up and enjoy the Cobra IV"

Question: the old lady said that once we get there, we need to find a way across. Then why a reference to the Heart & Soul Nebulae (the name of her ship) and why the message from the beacon about the EAFOTS? Aren't those two things present in the area before crossing the rift? The H&S could be just a gate, ok, but don't the EAFOTS end way before you even start crossing the rift?

The reality is: we just don't know where the Rift actually begins. The first time I tried to reach 4th H&S nebulae I was thwarted. My jump range was too low. The frMe shift drive is still very new technology so 'The Old Lady' could have been talking about the crossing just before reaching H&S and EAFOTS

It's not universally accepted, but many of us believe that EAFOTS and the 'Vain Queen' clue are simply directional 'look over there' pointers for people who hadn't previously been aware of the Rift mystery or read Reclamation.

That doesn't really square with 'broadly correctly' though.
Out by several thousand LY is stretching the definition of 'correct'.

Oh, hold on, are you suggesting that there's a small rift at the edge of the arm, between the main body of it and Heart and Soul?
