Discussion The rise of Tablets ... for third party apps.

Having multiple Screens to play games, is becoming redundant ,with VR development , and with 4k /8k super curved 110in screens been the future. ( you never know)
Gamers of the future will be using one large main screen and VR for everything else , with Tablets complementing those setups

The Rise of Tablets as your 2nd 3rd Screen, or as many as your router and usb ports can handle , is the future of gaming.

The benefits are so much better , your PC GPU CPU is not under load managing screens.

All the processing power is been done on the tablet !

Tablets have Apps! which of course are independent from the PC

I ask that all Third party apps ,in developed now and into the future , code for networking to Tablets

Lets end the need to Alt Tab , and those ugly black lines 'bevels' and move into the future by supporting Tablets for Elite Dangerous third party apps

Code for Tablet networking , Start today !

Given the below, even the ability in allowing the clipboard function to work with Third party apps , gives PC owners more control as to what's been opened ,where, when ED is running

ClipSync server on the PC http://bdwm.be/cs/ and with these two Apps on the tablet ClipSync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.bdwm.clipsync Clipboard Actions https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.halfreal.clipboardactions

I don't even have a smartphone but a second screen on the PC.

Code for PC and tablet, support both (or make a webapp :)!

The Pathfinder android app is a great groundwork. Uses edproxy. I have it running on my 7" android tablet, but would love a version of ED Discovery for android, or a companion app for it to display the map and data. I suspect that not many low end tablets would be able to handle the route plotting in a timely manner though. Currently, I have a second monitor for ED Discovery and ED running in borderless windowed mode, which works, but I don't like having to take focus away from the game to use EDD.

I take as much load off my main computer as possible. All third party ED apps (with a few exceptions) run on a separate (old) laptop dedicated for ED and access log files and journal files over a network. So, yes, I support anything that will work over a network.

I've been looking for tablet solutions for extra displays and functions that might be used in ED and SC.
So far, Nothing has really surfaced. However, there are some really good option for the likes of DCS and the A-10 Warthog.
Not sure if this sort of thing is exactly what you guys are looking for, but I feel we need something this level of functionality. check out

Apparently its not perfect, but its a step in the right direction.
Here is an early example of it being used (was only available on ipad at the time).

I'm looking for something a little more recent. No luck so far.
I have a set of Cougar MFD's (no display) but ultimately a tablet displaying the same level of information that the bit-shift solution displays for the A-10 would be really cool. Its got to be the next step. VR is not really an options here (I dont think, plus its anti-social. TrackIR or some form of head tracking is ideal for now (imho).
Until we get a full functioning interactive holographic display! Maybe VR will get around to simulating something like that, but I've not seen or heard anything like that even in its earliest of forms.

Yes I use 2nd PC networked to read the logs paths on the main gaming PC where ED is running ,as well as ED tool Box on the 2nd PC, I then use the tablet's browser to access it

Dev's making Third Party apps, have to really start thinking about networking as we all have something connected to a router these days beside our gaming machines , and as Ive said I hate Alt Tabbing to see data

NOTE
The Dev of EDDI 2 heard my request and now will allow the clip board to capture Url , like the ship loadout, so my tablet can open it with this ClipSync server on the PC http://bdwm.be/cs/ and with these two Apps on the tablet ClipSync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.bdwm.clipsync Clipboard Actions https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.halfreal.clipboardactions
