Horizons Station Security ??

So wondering how is it or what has changed that now when entering a station, and some other players are outside trying to kill you as you enter what happened to the station firing on them? is that now gone, does the station only "fine" them allowing them to block and gang up to kill you before you enter?

I think we should be seeing stations / starports react to weapons fire inside the NFZ with extreme malice and prejudice aforethought. I'm not sure if they are though, partly because Adam Woods (senior producer at Frontier) was finding himself ganked around a station during a livestream this week. I suspect a bug rather than a design change, so always worth reporting, as a bug if you witness it. Meanwhile, always (always) carry insurance rebuy cash and otherwise assume you're on your own, as far as taking evasive action goes?

I think the stations are going to be far more deadly with 2.2.

I hope so,,, I dont mind and understand the chance of getting killed out in space,, but there needs to be some protection for those coming into a base and a GREATER chance of destruction for those sitting outside trying to gank those entering,, I have seen in the past that with a properly suited Conda or Corvet, you could not only take the stations fire but a few others , basically a total joke as stations defenses. But if you were say stuck in the mailbox the station would crush you within seconds if you did not move in the alloted time,,, that should be the same force to those attacking within the "No-Fire Zone" IMO .

I thought if you fired upon another ship within the NFZ, you were toast? Is that not the case?

As I understand it, the exploit being used is ramming other players. This does not prompt a lethal response upon the rammer, but upon the player who was hit! Keep your speed below 100 m/s to defend against that tactic.

E: D is far too easy on humans in such situations.

2 times now I have been fired upon while entering the station,, made it in once, but the second time there were 3 FDL and a Corvet who was staying inside blocking the mailbox,,, even after getting killed when I got back in I watched and not once did the station fire at them. I have been told to report as a glitch but not sure how I could or even prove it,, so needless to say I just went into private group since it was clear to me that ED was gonna favor these gankers.

G'day all,
The other day while delivering cargo, (in solo mode). I was sitting outside an outpost waiting for landing clearance when an Anaconda popped out of supercruise just in front of me, then, while I was still waiting for clearance the Anni cruised up to the entrance of a docking bay and proceed to shoot up the doorway and the smaller ship trying to get out. This is the first time I have ever seen this and wondered why, also the outpost's guns did not open fire on the Anni. Is this normal game play?

interesting thread!
I play solo. Are all the above instances in open?
I use the nfz as a safe zone if I am being chased by a heavy hitter, or if I don"t want combat. If I deploy I get fined 400cr. That is small change for survival.

If the enemy attacks, the station shoots back and I try to join in hoping for a reward. The feds usually spawn to attack the enemy as well. If I fire in the nfz I get another fine. I think 400cr.

It seems as if open and solo are different in this scenario. I am alone but open is mostly human.

In that case it was an NPC attack! I have had NPCs follow me INTO stations without permission...and be summarily obliterated by the station. :D

I think you saw a rare event of an Annie NPC attack its victim in the station.

@ravenstorm2501: bug report it in the forum. Just say that you were attacked by a group of human players from INSIDE the station, and the station took no action.

IMHO this is easily fixed:

NFZ within 10 km of the station. Any weapons fire = obliteration by the station.

No Loiter Zone within 25 Mm of the station. If you're in this zone for more than 5 minutes, violators will become WANTED for 6 hours and destroyed by system security.

this is exactly what I have been thinking , that would solve a lot of the station ganking issues, make the gankers have to work for it out in space... of course the Interdiction mini game would have to be fixed :) but thats a whole other thread.

I think what you are seeing is players that sit right outside the NFZ, and fire on players as they enter or exit the station. Stations have different ranges for their NFZ's, and I think it's related to the system state. Either way, it is a known issue by FD. They found out the hard way with their live stream last week.

Stations definitely need to be far more hostile to any engagement. Hopefully (as bad as it seemed for FD - I didn't see it) they will do something about it.

I like the way the stations are now. (Solo playing of course) I like to loiter and watch evil npcs go up against the feds. And I like to go help.
I sometimes get pushed into the NFZ. (Another fine)
I also like to see big bruisers in their Anacondas and Pythons start firing at me in the NFZ and we have a real barney. It is fun!
It's fun watching the feds and the station guns slowly whittle a tough guy down (with a little help from yours truly).
An hour ago a python chased me to the NFZ and I waited to target him but he blew up a small trader and high waked out. (Even NPC's can be greifers)
