Minimum jump range - don't forget you can Super Cruise the distances down if right on the limit - eats the fuel but doable if you are the patient sort

I really need to get home and build me a proper explorer ship... [knocked out]

Let's see if I can make it for this one :).

CMDR Halcyone has signed up, as a friend of the Order of Enblackenment. Brother Sabathius was interested, but is unlikely to earn a Conda in time. He will come along as far as he can to escort our High Priestess.

Now to get that range pushed up!

going on a dangerous ride wich i definetly wont survive, my debris and escapepod floating around in a distant darkness where no one could ever safe me? Sounds exactly like my kind of madness :D
especially that first Waypoint yells my name!

the question is tho, will i be able to engineer a ship with the required jumprange?
I dont enjoy the Engineer-thing at all so i probably wont make it in time... i also dont have any jumponium materials left but that would be manageable till january.
but the engineer grind man :<

Assuming you're level 5 with Farseer, you only need to concentrate on the FSD. Forget grinding for anything else, you don't need it for this trip.

I managed to get 40 rolls worth of materials for a L5 FSD upgrade in about 6 hours gameplay (in total). FD have made it much easier now thanks to multiple drops of specific items.

Prospecting :
Micromaterial:
grade0.png
1x Arsenic

Ship salvage (transport ships), Surface POI :
Micromaterial:
grade1.png
1x Chemical Manipulators

Scan high wakes outside a busy spacestation (the most tedious ones to grind for) :
Micromaterial:
grade2.png
1x Datamined Wake Exceptions

Buy these from the market in Manditi :
Commodity:
grade-1.png
1x Magnetic Emitter Coil

If all else fails, join as crew aboard someones ship? ;)

BTW, how does the "neutron supercharge" work? It takes into account only your jump range without jumponium? Or is this particular destination so far away that you need 55ly jump range boosted with L3 jumponium and the neutron supercharge?

I'm trying to think through how to mod an Anaconda for maximum jump range. I would like one for normal exploration as well. I was thinking a really small shield but with a grade 5 mod for normal exploration (kinetic resistance for heavy landings?), but if it's a suicide trip then I could do away with that. The heavy duty armour mod that Chrystoph mentions could add durability to the hull instead without adding weight. Overcharging the power plant would mean we could bring a smaller one and lose weight. We won't need a detailed surface scanner because we won't be handing in any exploration data. Because it's only 3 kylies for this expedition, I think I will go for a smaller fuel tank to increase range and smaller fuel scoop to cut down on rebuy cost.

How many heat sinks launchers do we need? I only needed it once or twice on Distant Worlds so normally would only bring one, but if Hades Edge requires them then maybe I should bring as many as possible. I'll D-rate all the other components and not bring any weapons.

It should be quite easy if people can't afford it to earn the credits to get a D-rated Asp. Wing up with someone who owns a good combat ship for a bounty hunting CG and you could get yourself 25m to play with.

I'm seriously thinking of ditching the shields for this one, but it all depends on the FSD roll and how much extra I have to play with.
D3 shields take relatively very little off the jump range so I would fit those at least. You'll be thankful you did when you try to land at basecamp 1 ;)

And FD have hinted that there will be hostile probes out there after 2.2, so shields may become as essential as the ADS for explorers from now on.

Yeah.. What the hell.

Now, how do we convince FD that if we all self destruct in our SRV's, they should leave our ships as wrecks to be discovered in the future...

Z...

Haha, yeah, that'd be great. Just a nice graveyard of parked ships with srv wrecks everywhere would be hilarious for someone to find later. Or for us to visit and "add to" (though if they did it the first time, I doubt they'd add more later.) Pity I doubt they'd all have the proper paint jobs, though. Then again, maybe we'll all choose to die somewhere that it'd make sense for all the paint to eventually get blasted off by solar winds or some such. Or maybe at Basecamp 1, where we can all melt into the landscape.

A couple of hundred ships, parked in a giant circle, with blown up SRV's strewn about inside the circle...

Heh, basecamp 3 is called the Anaconda's Graveyard. I've spoken to Dr Kaii about this soon-to-be special place and if DSE gets pretty big, I'm sure FD will work with us again and promote the event. They may even be persuaded to put some permanent crashed Anaconda wrecks out at the basecamp one day, as a memento. Lets wait and see :)

Public Service Announcement: At this time of writing, Pyemmar 8 has a Distribution Centre where you can farm Datamined Wake Exceptions!

I have updated the Rock Rats' upgrade document with this information. Famine states come and go though, so please let us know of any other systems with Distribution Centres you find!
