Ship Transfer Costs - These Prices are Nutty!

Remember back when fuel prices were very high, to the extent it was an issue? I suspect these high transfer prices will prove to be the same. They are multiples too high IMHO, at least over the short distances I've looked at examples of.

The idea is to prevent CMDRs having to taxi their fleet around in person, but if the prices are so very high (for bigger ships), that premise is sort of broken.

eg: 12mCR to move two of my ships to a more useful location to craft them, before then returning them back?

The cost needs to be flatter across ships value IHMO. ie: Far cheaper than it is for most ships.

Oh, it'll get used. To 'recall' a permanent taxi so you can use it to go get the expensive ship, leave the taxi and fly the expensive ship.

If that sounds vaguely familiar, like that's something that might have happened in the past, so much an entire mechanic as invented so it didn't have to happen so much in the future, you might be on to something... [up]

It's the most effective use of the mechanic. Relocating/ recalling cheap, optimised, engineered taxis to use them again and again and again.

Ever seen a picture of a snake eating itself? Same thing.

Which is handy, because they take waaaay too much clicking now days to set up again.

Exactly. If you're short of cash do a long range taxi? Grab a hauler (whatever, cheap) paint it yellow, strip it and fit with the biggest FSD range and fuel scoop you can find. Then wherever you are, transfer it to you (it'll be cheap), run to your corvette / anaconda and fly it back. If you want it all and now, play CQC but who knows, there might be options for FD to add in lower prices for slower hauls in time to give options. By the sound of it now we have a fairly much express delivery service.
Hey: remember when you wanted ship transfers? Well we added them but made them ridiculously expensive.

So you can't complain they are expensive because you don't have to use them (just pretend we didn't add them);
But you also can't complain you want them because we added them (and made them too expensive to want to use).

Haha. Players suck! Devs forever!

They'll charge you 250k-750k for a 1 jump delivery of your ship.

But they'll only pay you 1-10k to complete a 1 jump delivery mission.

Makes perfect sense.

Because the ship is (probably) far more valuable than whatever is being delivered in the delivery mission?

Don't fret, it doesn't hurt me in the slightest, amuses me to hell though that you need to resort to half truths and outright baloney to try and make a failed point.
It may be true that you are not hurt in the slightest personally. But it is true that immersion was a defining reason for many people.

Not everyone but for quite a few on these forums and elsewhere. SO I wouldn't call that a half truth or a outright lie, I do not see how you could.

Immersion rules the game right now.

How in the sweet jesus nutcracker is this immersive? you pay me half a bill to move an anaconda any distance and I'll do that with in a fraction of a heart beat. AND SIXTY ONE HOURS!!!??!?! The hell? this is what you nutcases voted for? lmao, nope not using this.

The only satisfied people are these not planning to use the ship transfer... How predictable.

And those who want it virtually prohibitive to move a ship to Jaques that otherwise couldn't make the trip if flown manually. A 10ly kitted Fer de Lance with no fuel scoop should be an impossibility at Jaques...at least this way it comes close.

Not everyone but a lot of on these forums and elsewhere. SO I wouldn't call that a half truth.

Well as a major contributor in the thread in question and the debate I would call it a half truth, there were many varied reasons for folks wanting a delay, to pretend it was nearly all about immersion is disingenuous at best. But I'll tell you what, lets pretend for a second that it was 'all about immersion', can you remind me why that is a dirty word in gaming now please?
