what do you think of 2.2?

Only had chance to log in for 10 minutes.

Paid 23 legacy fines I didn't even know I had. Cashed in about 18 random bounties from skimmers and interdicting pirates, along with 350k credits worth of combat bonds from a CZ which I didn't even notice I had - my transactions tab now only has 4 CGs listed. You have no idea how pleased that makes me. Looked at passenger missions, the first two I saw were to ferry someone 2 jumps away for 650k credits and to take an explorer and his entourage to a very nice looking planetary nebula with a neutron star 18,000 LY in towards the core for 14m. Liking the variety there. Also like the system faction summary on the station menu, 'faction X is expanding here from system Y, may soon be at war with faction Z' just presenting the information to you that way makes it much easier to get a quick oveview of what's going on. Quality of life touches are looking good for me.

Now that I am no longer staying at His Imperial Majesty's Pleasure I may use my ill famed notoriety to become a tour guide of some report.

Unless it breaks my parole regulations, I'll have to check.

Well, right out of the gate, I get an Outfitting Error trying to upgrade the Fuel Tank on my Orca to a 5C from the default 4C, though I have since been able to upgrade this elsewhere.
Hyperspace jumps still take just as long, if not longer than before, perhaps to allow us time to see how "pretty" it is now.
Loading times for the Passenger Lounge are atrocious, as are most station services.
Galaxy and System map load times are also terrible.
And while I LOVE the new info display for systems you're jumping to, and totally appreciate the star data in the info panel, it would be 1000x better if the star type was displayed in the system info board instead.

Though not to sound negative, I do greatly like everything that has been done that I have been able to check out so far, and improvements and additional content is always appreciated. I'm sure these things are simply "growing pains" that will work themselves out in time.

5 minutes in, halfway between Sag A* and Colonia. WOW!. Filtering the rest of my journey by Neutron stars and Black Holes. Coining it!

If you drop down just below the galactic plane there are literally millions of neutron stars, you don't need a filter you just pick a star from your left hand nav and jump.

What do I think of 2.2? Well frankly it's not relevant to me, and I'm increasingly impatient with the direction FD have taken the game in, and disgusted with the attitude of some of its moderators.

The average age of players is about 41. The game is an immense Galactic sandbox, the biggest game world in history. Yet FD have completely missed the opportunity to let players interact with this sandbox and give mature players what they really want, that-is-to-say a serious commitment to developing the exploration aspect of the wonderful sandbox they've created, and the richness of the exploration experience, by means of an ever richer diversity of worlds and terrains to explore, and by means of increasingly sophisticated explorer-placed content.

However, each new heavily-promoted update FD release seems to delight in denying explorers any hope for the sort of game they envisaged since the Kickstarter, instead working flat out to lay on yet another serving of empty adolescent pew-pewing, flavoured with a new gimmick. This time the gimmick is Ship-Launched Fighters, whose usefulness in combat is debatable, and whose only appeal to explorers was in their potential as a lifeboat - FFE players will remember the Stowmaster Fighter of the Quest ships 20 years ago - a potential which is completely absent in ED.

Having made that observation on the SLF feedback thread, I am now apparently blocked from making further replies to that thread, for no reason, and without warning or exploration, presumably by Sandro Sammarco who started the thread, and whom I note has now been promoted to Lead Designer. This was the fellow who suggested a game mechanic for the Slaves commodity to turn into Animal Meat in the event of a life support malfunction, and then into Biowaste o : )

So all 2.2 has meant for me in real terms, is that I have had to return from helping to build the Colonia enclave to Shinrarta to effectively check out all of the new upgrades and options featured in the new update. Having done so, the first thing I discovered was that Jameson Memorial is now infested by adolescent pew-pewers, station-camping and griefing and ganking away at everyone entering and leaving the station, behaviour which FD seems to delight in actively encouraging with every update. And then, having refitted my exploration Anaconda the Pourquoi Pas? for combat, with a Fighter Bay, to retaliate effectively against this menace, I find that the SLFs are totally inadequate, and my Engineered exploration upgrades can't be stored because of a bug.

I don't have any patience at all with this. I have patience to jonk away in the Black for months on end, in anticipation of exploration finally getting some love, but I don't have patience with this. I'm removing my Fighter Bay and all of my weapons again, refitting the Pourquoi Pas? for exploration, getting back all of my Engineer upgrades for exploration, and heading back off into the Black with the Cassiopeia Expedition to find obvious supernova remnants which FD have so far failed to include in the game. Exactly like Powerplay, which I have not participated in at all, not one single aspect of FD's new update is relevant to my game and I have no reason to use any of its features at all. As far as I am concerned, all of the work they have put into it has been a complete waste of their time.

Like all ED updates, a whole heap of good stuff, a couple of boneheaded design decisions that don't detract too much, and a few balance issues that I'm sure will be resolved in the immediate post-update patching process.

Mostly very good so far, I'm getting an 'outfitting error' when trying to exchange modules on my type 6 though. I don't think it's user error but perhaps there's something I'm missing about how module storage/exchange is supposed to be working? I just want to sell off modules to strip the ship to sell it, but neither store nor exchange seem to work when trying to fit cheaper thrusters to sell my good ones.

Otherwise everything else seems to be working OK. The new station interiors are very nice!

Not sure so far, might be delay's on the server due to update overload.
BUT

1st time ever waited over 5 mins for docking approval, then blank menu's on Mission and Passenger which still remain blank after several attempts to refresh and save exit reloads.
So hopefully this will self correct after everyone finish's downloading 2.2.

Im pretty disappointed. 2.2 is a frickin joke for python pilots. all that real fancy new stuff cannot be used by us. no fighter slots, no cabins, crew members useless,

IT. JUST. SUCKS.

i didnt wait a damn year just for transfering ships and modules.... *slowclap*

That mechanic was actually in Frontier by the way.

Missions (one way) for a ship (i.e., in my case a Python) that has 80 cargo space is only averaging 5 to 20 K per mission since 2.2 implementation (25 Oct 2016). Sometimes there are some 60 to 65k missions, but most average between 5K to 25k. Admins need to correct the low number of credits that pilots can earn for one way missions, since 2.2 implementation. Before missions paid an ok amount. If this remains with a average of 25K to 65k per mission from an entity from allied base, it could take 6,000 to 16,000 missions to just earn 400 million by trading.

Severe server lag all day. They messed with the audio which now sounds terrible. Discovery lag of new objects back. Jump into unknown system, main star often does not appear until fuel scooping is completed, so sensor location of star for accurate fuel scooping useless. Station billboards that flash white as they change to a different company name, should be black to prevent seizures when using VR. Game version number left in alpha release. Trading missions nerfed to insult level.

Score out of 10 someone else can do the math. :D

Earlier today: Disappointed.

Fighters don't add all that much to the game, except as being a way to train crew up ready for multi-crew later... you need to tank damage, pick targets, kill warrant scan for them to be sure they don't just die straight away, so your playstyle doesn't really change, you're likely still in the mothership, but as the fighters also take some of your income, you may as well not bring them along.

The Beluga's ridiculous wings means it gets stuck in the slot, in the new scenery, pretty much everywhere. I've not yet tried passenger missions, but they won't differ much from any other trading.

So far, the "Alien Archeology" appears to be yet another CANNON fan service escapade again. I know it's the first few hours, but as yet I've not seen any hint that there's actual in game, mass participation content brewing.

And the UI is full of bugs and     les; How you can't carry crew members and make them active / inactive aboard your ship. How you can't scroll down their profile in the 3 window. How the Crew Lounge is just another window. Etc... As I say, disappointed. It really does feel like just another incremental patch when you look at it objectively. We still don't have all that much interesting content by itself.

BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW: I FEEL NAUSEOUS AND HORRIFIED.

Despite the warning in the game, the reports aren't accurate and I just had my commander corrupted and made inaccessible simply for putting a shield from storage on my ship. Maybe it's having two uniques IN, not moved FROM storage that's the issue. Or maybe it's counting Engineered items as unique, or... who the hell knows? All I know is I've likely now lost a A6 Prismatic Shield with a good Grade 5 Thermal Resistance buff at least, or maybe even my entire Commander.

2.2 is, literally and without exageration, turning into a disaster for me.
