2.2 Massive frame rate drop entering and landing on planet

No, but planets surface seems to look more detailed from distance when approaching now. But I saw a more heavy GPU load when heading to a space station causing lower fps than before.

Has anyone else noticed this, it is much worse than 2.1. Is this what we have to look forward to every update with planets, less and less fps until it is unplayable at your current settings?

By any chance, are you using the 30 FPS (or other) limiter setting from the game ?

I also had stutter with that during the beta, removing the limiter from the game setting solved the stuttering. (resorted to the half-refresh adaptive frame rate from Nvidia control panel but that one needs full screen so now I just play with VSYNC 60FPS).

Haven't tried the ingame setting since, unsure if that was fixed. HTH.

This always happens on new download day. Its a server bandwidth from ED issue. It will be fine tomorrow. In the mean-time expect lower FPS today. No idea why.. Just it always happens, and the lower end your machine, the worse it seems to be effected. I run on old hardware. New pooter coming soon - release date thursday.. :)

Honestly, the 380 is a pretty sub-standard card, being on an equivalence scale close to a GTX 680.

OP, what kind of computer are you playing on?

I was checking the frames and don't go below 90 FPS on planets or at the station in the planet (average 100FPS actually), and in open space between 160/200FPS depending what I have in front...same as in 2.1 for me. (and that is good)

many players reported framerate drops and stutter issues in beta. Espescially exiting SC at a station has degraded in performance (also very noticable in glide for me). On dropping to a station f.e. there is heavy stuttering for about 5-10 seconds. It then vanishes and runs smooth. Maybe related to loading/spawning of ships.

It has happened for many players, has been reported as a bug, was a little improved in beta 7 but it just went LIVE. Its very problemantic in VR (occuring even on lowest settings) and pretty unrelated to hardware (at least also titanx and 1080 users were reporting it).

same fps drop here to, before on ultra 4k 60fps and now same setings 10-15, even when i go on low setings i get 30fps, something is wrong with the update or is with my sidewinder rig, any advice on how to fix this is more than welcome

Same buttery smoothness as 2.1 for me but without the annoying microstutter that plagued 2 0 and 2.1. On a gtx1070 so firmly a mid range rig.

I did have massive issues with the early 2.2 beta versions (in fact I think that's my thread linked above), but beta 5 fixed it for me.

It's a GTX 960 equivalent.

I would probably rather say 950 but thereabouts, yeah. I have a 280X but don't trust it to deliver the same punch, as AMD cards usually get the short end of the yard stick by most game publishers. And we can get some seriously bad drivers at times -_-

so i found planet landing to be superb..... definitely an improvement in eye candy, and for me performance in VR was top notch there (GTX 980)

where i have noticed a hit in performance was in space stations... that was certainly apparent, esp in the high tech station design but even noticed in the old ones.

i think its time i turned on Asynchronous Space Warp in my oculus drivers.

I have some strang jitters now and then since 2.2, mostly at star ports.
90fps but ever 10seconds the game gives me a still shot for a few seconds - the game runs normaly in the background tho.
Gives landing my Anaconda a bonus thrill.

I also have a lower end card (nVidia GTX 765M), and can also tell a noticeable difference (framerate decrease) between 2.1 and 2.2 when approaching landable planets and moons. This wasn't an issue for me in the last version of the Beta (Beta 7, I believe). I love all the new features of 2.2 - so much great stuff. My only disappointment is the performance decrease. Prior to release I was getting over 30 fps on approach to and on planets. Now it's somewhere around 20 with spikes at 15fps.

Hope they can address it for us folks using older cards.

Hi,
I'm seeing the same issue here. This is today (27.10.16 just after the 2.2 patch)

Is it still happening for you guys?
