[Suggestion] Let crew pilot main ship in multi-seat ships

I'm one of those immersion geeks and I immediately went and hired a crewmember, despite being in a type-6 most of the time. I liked their bio and was instantly attached. I then saw I couldn't activate them to gain experience passively. I got curious and switched to a cobra because it has 2 seats. Nothing. (Then I watched the training video I just saw in my email). I'm against auto-pilot outside of the docking computer, but I think that in ships with multiple seats we should be given the option to hand over the reins to our crew. It's like those days where it's sunny, there's no traffic and you're not in a hurry, so you dad looks at you and says, "Wanna drive?". Those were the good ol' days.

I can't get a ship launched fighter right now but I feel like a missing out with not even being able to interact with the crew I hired. I'm just going to cancel their contract so I don't lose money. :(

I too was a little disappointed when I scanned my head over to the empty seats expecting to see a Npc sitting there. I also found it funny that there is a character model sitting in the launched fighters that are remotely controlled but vacant are the seats in my bridge. Not a big deal however and not even necessary just an immersion thing.. Having a blast with the new toys!...

I am flying an Anaconda and love the crew/fighters. But I would love to be able to keep a crew member active with me when in a smaller ship just to keep boosting their combat experience. They would still permadeath if I get blown up so its not cheating the system, but I would be able to keep progressing them without being stuck in the larger ships. I love my Icourier for fun combat but I simply dont want to play without having fighters, it is the most fun I have had in this game as far as combat goes.
Your other point about the empty seats, that doesnt bother me at all but I can see the point for people playing in VR (which must be insanely fun) that they would want all the realism they can get. I am thinking the NPC's will be taking those seats in 2.3.

I honestly want to have the option to let an NPC fly my ship when we have multicrew, it would probly be waaaaay less effective but would be a lot of fun trying to survive having a harmless pilot while you and a friend fire the guns lol.

It's still the same today but dads then also add "then afford your own insurance and get a job!"

Sure I'm up for letting NPC Crew be my auto-pilot as I am already paying them to sit around somewhere. You'd think FD would have at least added them into our seats by now. This is a let down in adding Crew seriously.

I think you nailed it here. The VR is great. But having the NPC in the other seat(s) isn't just for appearances. It's also to justify letting them pilot the ship.

If the release was of 2.3 I`d agree with the above but its 2.2. Multi-crew along with the character creator will introduce what the OP is looking for, you just have to wait for 2.3.

I had a similar initial experience with 2.2.

I launched the game with my Anaconda as my active ship and went straight to the crew lounge because I figured that ships with two-plus seats would be able to have crew members. But I was surprised and let down when I realized crew members were designed for ship-launched fighters only.

I know I could buy a Keelback and fit it with an SLF; however, I didn't like flying the Type 6 - the massive cockpit height made me feel like I was flying a building - and have been hesitant towards the Keelback.

Have you been following the beta or listening to FD, how could it be a let down or surprising. It seems like some people just want an excuse to whine.
