Well...I'm Greek and I can confirm that it's not a normal Greek name.Isis is a normal Greek name. How about you don't bring stupid naming conventions (Arab DAESH by the way not ISIS) into the game.
Isis is a normal Greek name.
Its actually ancient Egyptian, predating the classical Greeks by over a thousand years. Anyway, people getting upset over this are just ignorant.![]()
I didn't get upset.I just found it weird since I didn;t know this name existed.Should I delete this thread? Its actually ancient Egyptian, predating the classical Greeks by over a thousand years. Anyway, people getting upset over this are just ignorant.![]()
Yeah I get it.I'll delete this thread.ISIS is also the name of the ship previewer system in EVE.
ISIS is also the name of a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford in the United Kingdom.
ISIS is also the name of an Egyptian God
ISIS is also... you get the drift.

The Egyptian name for Isis is Aset. Isis was the Greek version.

Are you sure the name Isis is Greek?I'm Greek and the only time I've heard it as a name is from Egyptian mythology.Heh, this is getting off-topic, but Aset is the presumed pronounciation of the name (AFAIK). But yes, Isis as a written name comes from the Greek (although they obviously didnt spell it as such either!), which influenced Latin, which influenced modern Italic/Germanic languages, which we use on this forum.
In any case: when we type Isis on the forum, we use our language to refer to the Egyptian godess, not an irrelevant terrorist organisation.
