Is it just me?

So, i decided to have a go at the scenarios.

Sidewinder Face off with Crimson Triumph.

Am i doing something fundamentally wrong here..? I get wacked everytime.

He can always get on my tail no matter what i do and before i know it its time to eject... again.

Me just being no good, or am i missing a trick here??

x52 pro - Quite happy with the way the controls work... Weapons, power distribution, use of reverse and lateral thrust.

The combat scenarios have certainly been made harder since Alpha 1 when I really played them :)

Crimson Triumph will immediately engage you and start blasting as soon as he comes out of hyperspace.

Use those few seconds to speed up and close range before he starts his turn. Pip shields and get close, pip engines and get into a turning/sliding fight - use your thrusters to keep him in your sights. Ideally you just want to be hovering right above his cockpit as he tries to sight you - now pip weapons and boil him.

If he runs when his shield drops, keep behind him and keep firing. Boom.

I find turning Flight Assist off as he whizzes by and I turn to follow him, quickly dis-engage FA and thrust no more than half speed should help. What's harder is the next scenario with all those fed fights..geez!

There is a manoeuvrability sweet spot at 50% thrust also indicated by blue markings to the left of the speed indicator. You have much better manoeuvrability at this speed than at 100%.

I'm having a hard time with Scenario 4 myself. Even running silent, getting myself right behind a fighter, opening fire and scampering right away, that goddamn Cobra forces me so far away from the rest of the fighters that I can't find them again once I've managed to evade it :/

You need to get out of his firing line. Boost in close and get in a turning war until he lets up and makes a mistake. Then you can track and destroy him quite easily.

I made a video real quick to show you what I mean.
