Amazing! I spent 4.5 hours on the planet looking last night, am actually quite close but no cigar!
Looking at the aerial image of the site posted up-thread. Could it not be a map? The large circular formation in the top right looks like a representation of Barnard's Loop, similar to the logo on the surface of the barnacles but rendered slightly differently. I can't check as I'm at work, but I'm wondering whether the various artefacts correspond to particular stars in the region.View attachment 112657

There's a thought - If we take the large circle as Barnard's Loop, is there any correlation between the items on the ground and the stars around the loop?
