Assigning your co-pilot to fly the barge

Hi!

I might be a little daft (might? little?) but for some time I assumed that the guy I hired tot babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor would babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor.

But I can't find how I tell the lazy git to babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor. Besides, without him at the wheel I can still tell the Conda to fetch and play dead.

Can anyone tell me how I tell the lazy git to babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor?

Cheers!

You blew my mind...

Attack orders

  • Defend - They will only attack if you or they are fired upon. This is the default order when the fighter is launched.
  • Attack target - They'll attack whatever ship you're targeting. This includes neutrals and friendlies (this may be a bug). Use this order with caution.1
  • Engage at will - They will attack any hostile target they feel like attacking.
  • Maintain formation - They will stay in formation with you and ignore any attacks.

Movement orders

  • Follow me - They will follow you. This is the default order when the fighter is launched.
  • Hold position - They'll stay where they are.
  • Recall fighter - They'll bring the fighter in for landing (only available if you're controlling the main ship).
  • Switch - Switch roles with your crewmember.

Thanks! :)

But I get all this. You can do the attack orders after you tell the lazy git to babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor. That's how I found out the lazy git did not babysit the Conda while I'm tearing around in my Condor.

I get the message: no crew assigned, and the Attack orders are redded.

I'm also wondering why I need crew in my unarmed Conda. My guess is I don't :p

Thanks! :)

Once you've bought crew, one of them needs to be assigned. This is done in the crew lounge at a station.

Without assigning, they just sit in the bar at the station getting drunk.

Ahhhh .... at a station. Which I wasn't planning to visit this or next month.

Thanks! Although I don't see how that would make any sense. Do I have the guy even with me, or is he still at 59 Virginis where I hired him? :|

In other words, I hired a guy to sit in a station. :( That might be a little daft.

That, and if your main ship gets destroyed, the active crew member will be killed, and you will need to re-assign (and re-hire if needed) a new crew member before you can issue orders to your main ship while you're in the ship launched fighter.

Done the same mistake myself, and I also wonder where the inactive crew members are stored. Probably in the escape pod's glove box, as they are safe in case of ship destruction.

Does anyone know, if you target an enemy, issue the attack order, then move away with the main ship, far enough to loose target tracking.

Will the fighter / your crew keep engaging that target?

Cheers,

I believe so yes, I did the opposite (I was in the fighter, left my ship fighting an eagle) last night. I still got the bounty even though I was a good 15K from the fight and couldn't see the Eagle.

Thanks mate, I thought so too, I guess it'll keep engaging until it kills it, gets killed or you give it another order. I did a few tests last night with the fighters out of my Corvette and it was actually quite relaxing, kinda like mining :)

Made half a mill in 10 minutes at a navbeacon, nothing fancy, just a few wanted Vultures and similar, my fighter got into throuble when I engaged a wing of three, with a Deadly Python as wingleader. "- Daddy, I'm running without shields" :) I had to go rescue the little guy :)

It is, mine got it's shields down then literally 2 seconds without damage and the shields are back up, it's crazy how long they can survive.

I run a Conda turret boat, with the constant fire from the turrets it keeps ships in evasion mode, makes it really easy for my fighter.

According to the following line from the patch notes, I take it a fighter could operate up to 30km away from your ship, although I don't know if there is a lower distance limit to obtain a bounty from a ship killed by your fighter:

- Stop fighters being able to operate beyond 30KM range if you switch to the Mothership at the last second before the SLF explodes
