Performance down since 2.2?

2.2 made a lot of tweaks to graphics settings. Try switching down to a lower default setting (Ultra down to High, High down to Medium, etc.) and see if that affects your stuttering and load times. If it does help, you can go through the advanced graphics options and turn individual things like shadows or terrain quality up until you find the one that's giving you trouble or you find a happy medium between graphics quality and performance.

It's not a perfect solution but it might help you get by until the issue can be patched.

I played on low settings with my Intel HD 530 integrated, I want to buy a new card this Christmas. I had 25 fps on planets.

Now I have 5-6 fps. I can't play anymore in Horizons for the next two months.

Ya I think I forgot to mention that but I'm getting it mostly when I drop from SC. How crappy is this. I always hope in these situations that people say it's just me so that I can fix it. Now I'll probably have to wait for a patch or something.

Mine is the same exact way, it only drops for 5-10 seconds with micro-sutters and then clears up. It never drops again or stutters until the next time I drop from SC. It did not do this in 2.1 at all so we know it is most likely a graphical issue or driver issue.

I'm running a AMD FX-9590, 16gigs ddr, EVGA 1070GTX FTW 8gig, on a SSD with windows 10 pro...

Same frame rates as before here, between 100/120FPS on planets (with the lights of the SRV ON there is a loss of 20/30FPS), at stations performance is quite similar to planets at around 120FPS, and then in open space/supercruise/jumping 200FPS. Playing at 1920x1080p @60Hz, game installed in SSD (doesn't matter so much aside from textures, the info for planets and data overall comes from the server), and PC Specs on my signature.

If you are having issues with the frames, don't use VSync, don't use SSAA at all, and drop a bit the texture quality and shadows. (I had a GTX560Ti OC before this one and had to turn things down a bit like shadows and Anti aliasing, as in any game)

Can confirm, I'm getting stuttering and frame-rate tanking. It's most obvious when I drop into normal space, e.g. at a station or a nav-beacon. I think whilst objects are being loaded I'm getting massive slow-down.

There is also judder on the hyperspace/loading screen startup. Exit into SC seems fairly smooth though.

RAID-0 SSD, 16GB Quad channel DDR4 and SLI 970 at 1080p.

Same here, like loading on a slow drive....started with 2.2

dropping from SC is truelly awful

For me the performance is the worst it's ever been and the live is even worse than the beta. Coming out of supercruise is truly awful for 10-20 seconds - interdictions are close to impossible. I haven't played 2.2 in VR yet but I think I may have to give it a wide berth until this is fixed. Shame as otherwise 2.2 is a great update.

I wish it took me only 10-20 second... since the patch yesterday it is taking 3-5 minutes for me to drop from SC... I just had 9 interdictions whic I was dropping out at a station.

It's strange. I see stuttering too, even when my framerate is high (using Fraps). I've dropped the settings from Ultra to High and it helped a tiny bit. Mostly, I see higher framerates. but there's still significant stutter when I drop out of SC. It was worse in the beta; it's improved somewhat. The stutter seems to be repeating frames or something, because when I look at the frame rate it's usually well above 60 fps, but movement isn't smooth.

Has anyone received anything from FD, regarding this Problem, I couldnt see it in the 2.2.01 thread, It should be no. 1 on there list of problems to fix.

BTW, What is this matchmaking server I keep hearing about?

Cheers

I understand your suggestion, It a good one but why should we have to lower our settings because of this problem, is this going to be the thing from now on, So down the track to get good performance, what run 640 x 480 and in black and white.................

I had dropped frames in 2.1, 2.2 is much improved for me and very smooth.

Asteroids with many ships still impact my frame rate, but that's nothing new and probably a draw call limit under dx11.

Don't use fraps. hit CTRL+F in game and there's a built in FPS counter.
