Patch Notes Update The Guardians Update: 2.2.01

Just so you know I am Downloading Battlefield 1, while waiting for the upgrade to actually upgrade. BF1 is Downloading at 6.8mb/s, Elite is at 0.01mb/s. At this rate a 40Gb game will have downloaded quicker than the tiny patch.

See it is possible FDev LOL

Can't open the system Map from either the Galaxy Map or the nav panel. Goes to the dialog box of retriveing system data, the circle keeps going, and sometimes it beeps as if it has retrieved the map.

Those of you who gloated about the ADS now showing only circles until the DSS is used are now avenged, as I have no system map at all.

Git Gud, Boy! No hand-holding here! This is Elite DANGEROUS!!! :(

Slow download and people are all coming home to update :)

We need to have a talk about this with FD. There must be a way for us players to help share the load. Maybe do the old school way of getting the files and install them local. Use torrent network to share. Works for other companies :) DCS comes to mind :)

Just checked and I can. Do you need to check files?

That is quite a stretch and far too much drama to be taken seriously. And even if your unlikely scenario did come about as a result of this change, what the heck do you care how someone else interfaces with the game? There is no way you, me or anyone is going to feel any impact from another player logging out while they wait for their ship. Getting all worked up over the slight chance someone might do that is beyond ridiculous.

All this is going to do is make it more affordable for more players to migrate out to Colonia/Jaques and any other new colonies that may pop up in the future. That is a good thing and something the game needs in order to keep things interesting and moving forward.

Unless you are one of those people obsessed with micro-managing the world to your liking, it would be hard to find anything negative about what is a fundamentally positive change to the game. I applaud FD's decision here, as do the majority of the community, so I would start accepting it if I were you and stop being that guy you actually complained about in your post. ;)

GG7, never argue with a Paladin.

They are always right- until *their* number is up. See his meltdown over Power Play. :)

Boo. You are encouraging taxis as the default transport mode now. Ergo encouraging people to sit around waiting for their ships, until they're bored and complain about ED = waiting game.

You are setting up ED for bad reviews going forward. Not smart. And difficult to roll back, and will lead to increasing cries to make ship transfer instant. So you're painting yourselves into a corner where you're going to make more and more players unhappy.

I ... don't understand how cheaper ship transfers will cause all of that? Isn't it a good thing to have the feature more affordable to players? What good is a feature like this if it's so expensive that no one ever uses it?

Also, I can't press spaces when I first start typing a response on this forum

Yep, I've had this same problem the past two days too. If you hit backspace first then the space bar works like normal. Not sure why, or what is causing it, lol.

I hope mission payouts get fixed soon, it's really terrible right now for everything but passenger missions.

I think it's just a ploy to get higher viewing figures tonight ;)

After last week's success, we thought we'd host another night of open play mayhem.

This week I'm pitting Lead Designer Sandy Sammarco against Lead Game Programmer Mark Allen in a trading show down in the Eranin system. They'll each have to see how much of one particular good they can trade within the allocated hour.

So turn up to Eranin at 7PM BST on Thursday October 27 to help or hinder Sandy or Mark!

Can't confirm this. I just updated to the current version and had the fastest download speed I ever got when updating ED:

The whole update process took less then 20 seconds.

I reckon updates are just Frontier's way of saving money on the heating bills ..
I bet those servers are warm right now. Can you fry an egg on 'em?

I don't want to be forced into doing passenger missions to make credits. I was quite happy carrying cargo and running missions in my Python and makng a few million an hour.
As you can see, i'm not a greedy person, lol....just that the game as of now doesn't let me play my chosen proffesion as a Trader/Deliverer and instead forces me to be a taxi driver/Tour operater to make credits. Hardly ballancing the proffesions is it :D

It was a suggestion to tied you over till FD looks into the normal mission payout amounts. Passenger mission mechanics are more or less identical to cargo missions as far as the A to B versions are concerned. But if you prefer hauling 100 tons of something over to system "B" for 80,000 CR as opposed to taking a passenger to that same system "B" for 3 million CR, there is no point arguing with you about it, even though I personally find the resistance to that idea a bit ridiculous. ;)

Keep your fingers crossed that FD addresses the low payouts sooner than later. Personally, I only do traditional missions for Engineer materials now. I don't even look at how much CR they pay anymore, only what data, mats, cargo and REP they give you. If I need a quick influx of cash, I will jump into my Anaconda Liner for an hour or two and pull down 10-20 million credits. ;)

For me, the change I am most happy with is the speed at which the mission and passenger boards load up now. MUCH faster than 2.1. I really hope it stays that way and doesn't backslide back to the server timeouts we were seeing in 2.1 even as recently as Monday.
