11 day download after update

Restarted PC (again), cleared part & progress and the normal download is now working. At the blisteringly fast speed of 0.01MB/s. Oh well, only 17 days to go :)

Hang on, no it's 21 days

Oh hang on, 23, no 24... :D

After multiple tries, reboot, delete .part and .progress and clear internet data worked. Updated in seconds after that.

Not really ;)

For me it downloads 37680 kb of the new .exe in about 10 seconds @1000 kbps or more! Then it hangs at 0.01 kbps FOREVER!

This is using both methods and having to delte the *.part & *.progress files between each try.

What gives FD?

Delete (or better move) the elite-dangerous-64.exe , the .part and the .progress and restart upgrade. it should work.

Please look here. We may have found a workaround. It looks like the exe is not patched very well, so removing it out of the folder and starting a re-upgrade should help. If not, let a friend sent you the exe-file.

We have 3 guys here that have solved the problem with this method.

Somebody can upload the .exe files somewhere ?

If i delete the .part and the .exe files my download restarts from 0, i have only a 7 mb adsl, dont want to start from scratch

Alright, just leaving it do its thing at 0 mb/s for an hour did the trick eventually.

So move it instead. Do not download .exe files from anyone you don't know.

It just looks like it´s restarting, basically its just checking your folder. It should be safe.

Same here in southern Germany, on the order of 64 kbit/sec. Hey, FD, some builder ran through your fiber connection with a backhoe and you had to fall back to an ISDN line?

The bad part is that you can't just ignore the update and keep on playing with the old version....

0,34 MB/s ... (from 0,09) .. fingers crossed for this positive change keep going :D

EDIT 0,8-1,4MB/s ! lets hope it will stay at least so fast.

does not works for me, after some minutes of checking files it stops with "failed to read..." error, tried with alternative download method too

Ok, deleting the exe worked.

I used the alternative and it ground to a halt for the last few minutes, but then went through :D

its speeding up and down from 0.04 to 0.05 for me so its dooing something..... not as lucky as you hehe

Just keep at it. Six goes of deleting the .par, .process and clearing temp files and then it went through after about 4-5 mins stuck at the end. It was at least saying minutes rather than hours ;)

Yep, updated succesfully now, did the below:

Deleted temp internet files as per https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283
Deleted .part and .progress files as per https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283 (these were both for the EliteDangerous64.exe).
Deleted the actual EliteDangerous64.exe
Started the client, using normal download method (not alternate)

It started slowly for the first minute then sped up to super quick speeds (for me!) of ~120 MB/s and finished in about 3 mins ... and this is on a rubish rural internet connection :)

Enjoy.
