What do you want to see added to the game?

Maybe not better but different, The ASP (Explorer) is one of the most versatile and commonly used ship. Its not a problem but it would be nice if it had some competition.

So a ship that is medium and more dedicated to exploring, space and planetary.
- More internals then ASP but smaller (Not so small that you cant fit a good fuel scoop), the Cobra IV have more internals then the ASP.
- Rely good jump range, Around Anaconda and ASP.
- Good speed for searching on planets.
- Hard points enough to defend it self.

in other word a smaller and faster ASP for planetary exploring.

My original thought is a Gutamaya, They do not have a medium ship and this would fit the role. Courier would be a great name for it, but that is taken (sorry but i do not see the Courier as the descendent to from Elite I and II, but i rely like it)
My other thought is that the Dolphin could fit that role, fast exclusive ship for small groups.

And another thing wouldn't it be good with a advanced discovery scanner with in built surface scanner, that would be a perfect internal for engineers to sell :)

This is basically what I've used for planetary exploration with good effect.

+Balanced mission payout. Overall, missions should pay way more credits than they do now.
+Long-term missions with massive payout that may take multiple days or even weeks to complete. For example, having to travel to a distant nebula to look for a science expedition that went missing, or investigate a strange signal, or track down a known criminal who is hiding there.
+Pirate bases and the ability to work with the authorities/mercenary factions to assault them, or maybe defend them from the authorities if you are a criminal yourself.

1. The ability to call in favours, with engineers, in order to get minor improvements made to your upgraded modules and/or to get some materials "recycled" if you decide to trash an upgrade.

2. The ability to call in favours-with factions-to get things like: modified mission rewards & mission parameters, discounts on modules and ships, forgiveness of fines/bounties against you, tip offs, assistance from faction members in RES's and USS's, shortcuts to getting access to engineers....to name just a few.

3. A major overhaul of discovery scanners, so that they're classed the same as weapons, thrusters etc (so from E to A). Each class improvement giving extra functionality compared to the one below it.

4. The ability for high end discovery scanners, used properly, to narrow down (not pinpoint) the location of persistent POI's.

5. The ability to use discovery scanners to ascertain what rarity of materials (if any) will be discovered within an Enhanced,/Degraded emission sources and Combat Aftermaths.

6. The ability to use Kill Warrant Scanners (and/or Manifest Scanners) to ascertain what materials a ship contains.

7. Within Power Play, the ability to forego normal activity payouts (credits or merits) for things like material rewards, access to engineers or even access to pre-engineered modules.

8. Have engineers provide "off the shelf", upgraded modules, that can be purchased either with cash or via calling in a favour.

9. Create links between faction rep and Engineer Ranking, & between faction rep and Power Ranking.

1. reflect hull reinforcement in the GUI by for example, increase the "hull percent" ? for example, 100% hull with Lightweight Alloy. But when you added Military Grade Composite or Hull reinforcement package, your 100% increased to reflect the % of hull boost you have added with all the internals. This change is more the player and the foes. So that it can be easier to select target regarding their hardness.

2. Mission rewards when you have neutral local reputation are laughable. I saw a mission for 124 CR... It does not motivate CMDR to move their home to another System. I think frontier really need to fix that. I have no grief when you are Allied. The missions are usually acceptable but it takes a long time before being allied. Maybe the mission generator are not yet fully optimized. Or it does not take more into account your trading level / combat level

3. Engineer base. I would love that Engineer base have more equipment with A level. At least, if your engineer offering Grade 5 modification for laser...why the engineer don't sell all the type of laser ??? I really hate them for this lack.

4. Engineer base. I would love to see a mission board in the base. Offering me only materials and commodities that I need for my pinpointed schema.(no credit).

People, robots & animals! Seeing people or things milling about on a planet surface (eg tourism), inside space ports or space-walking outside even if you can't interact with them (although at a minimum you would expect them to run for cover if a battle started near them) would provide a wonderful level of detail and life to the universe. The planet surface drones in Horizons hint at the possibilities at scale but as their role is solely defensive they are limited when bringing a feeling of a general buzz of life happening around you. Atmospheric planets with vegetation and cities will probably kill me.

Large battles attacking space and planet ports, if a system is at war you would expect to see large scale battles around planet surface and space ports, you would expect to see structural damage and even complete destruction of bases. This could be scripted to a certain extent ie have only a few levels of destruction representation to simplify things. In low security systems you might expecting smaller raids on ports with an alert going out on the news feed thing.

System population and economic ingame representation - I would expect to see huge continual streams of space traffic in shipping lanes in economic booming large population systems with an abundant array of giant space structures some of which require some skill to navigate through. As this would only cover some specific systems there would be scope for a more bespoke realisation of space structures and port architecture.

small stations which we can own.

maybe small manufacturing operations we can set up and run, like in X3.

a place to call one's own.

but foremost, more faces and people in the game - npcs, maybe bars/pubs, npcs doing their own stuff in space stations, cities, surface bases. aka a living galaxy.

being able to walk around our ship is a must too.

What would I like to see added to the game?

1. Pledging to minor factions
I think factions are the most important and underdeveloped entity in the game. They offer in my opinion the most potential to grow and turn into something awesome. They are already nicely developed, and playing the BGS makes Elite into a totally new and even longer lasting fun game.
The first thing I'd like to see would be to be able to pledge to a faction. No strings attached. Nothing positive or negative at first, just the faction name under my name.

2. Building minor factions
We already can expand factions.
We can make factions retreat.
We can conquer and lose stations and outpost.
I'd love to be able to influence the assets. I'd love to have a building pool (queue) for each faction, that can be filled with missions, trading, exploration, bounties and combat bonds. It can be lowered with adversial effects (killing ships, smuggling, doing counter missions, etc.). Once this pool reaches a threshold, all people that are longer than a month(?) pledged to a faction can vote to spend these points.
For
- building new stations (outposts, settlements, starports) in inhabited systems
- colonizing uninhabited systems
- expanding existing stations
- improving tech level (more ships and outfitting)
depending on existing structures
(EDIT:) - increasing population (thx Apos)

If the pool gets exhausted, stations deteriorate and get smaller (not abandoned).

That'd be great.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to _Flin_ again.

I really want more functions for Powerplay factions:

- FACTION-SPECIFIC TEXT CHAT. Would be good for communication with each other, without the need to keep active Discord/Teamspeak beside you. Incredibly useful.

- RANKING SYSTEM. The longer you stay in Powerplay faction, the higher your rank in it. Overall of 10 ranks, I guess it would make sense using existing Army ranks (unlike Navy ranks which are used for Federal ranks). Or you can just use roman numbers: I, II, III, IX and so on.

- NOTIFICATION BOARD. High-ranked players should be able to put notifications for other players to see. Would be used to notify people of random big operations.

- FAVOURS. As David Braben (or Sandro?) suggested, you could earn favours by serving your power, and later use these to summon NPC ships to help you.

Currently, players are forced to either set up 3rd party websites, or stick to reddit, where any player of enemy faction can freely read their reddit. If you give players some faction-specific communication tools inside of game, that would make it much more comfortable to use. That can be expanded beyong Powerplay later, like adding notice boards to stations, where anyone can leave a short message, like "Warning, pirates!" or "Looking for wing". That would make bubble feel even more alive.

3. Changing economics
I'd like to have a kind of crafting / tech tree for factions.
Main Feature would be a player run economy, that creates and consumes commodities.

- Every station has a production capacity and a stock (and maximum stock) for each commodity
- Every commodity, except primary commodities, has a "blueprint" (e.g. 10 Beryllium = 20 Bertrandite, 2 Resonating Separators, 5 HE Suits, 5 Microbial Furnaces)
- At the production tick, depending on the primary commodities (like mined metals or minerals), the station will produce the commodity that will offer the best profit - depending on it's own prices (and average demand prices in the vicinity)
- The more a commodity is produced and not sold, the more the prices goes down.
- The more a commodity is not sold to the station, the higher the price goes. There is no cap (balancing needed).

So basically you can create your own trade routes, if you are willing to deliver enough stuff so that you drive production prices waaaay down.

- you can manipulate production capacities and stock levels through building and delivering stuff.
