Something needs to be done about ranking with superpowers

Hello! I hate to be the one to make this thread, but I seriously think this issue must be addressed.
Ranking up with superpowers is incredibly time consuming. Unlike others, I get roughly 4 hours of gameplay a day which I consider is quite a lot for someone at school.

Furthermore, I have been trying to rank up with the federation for a good few months and I'm still Cadet 34%, after spending a lot of money on donation missions in TZ Arietis.

So, how does this problem get addressed? I believe there have been threads in the past regarding this issue, but I also wish to put forth some of my own views:

So we have a couple of options.
- leave ranking as it is
- decrease the "time" it takes to rank up
- increase rank payout from missions
- add more missions specifically aimed at ranking
- add more options to make ranking more fun

For example, I am currently at the Empire level required for a Clipper. Having flown one myself, I had to undertake the 2 months strain of ranking through Empire via missions

As of now, I'm attempting to acquire a corvette, which involves federation ranking. It isn't going so well, and I've been accepting a lot of Federation missions including:
Donation, transport, deliver message, assassinate, base assaults, pirate destroy

To conclude, I think military ranking needs a bit of brushing up lately as there are so many other things to do in the game - and this is definitely one of the most time consuming. Please post your opinions below and try to be polite :)

A lotr of things in this game could be faster (treying to get a Sirius permit at the moment). I mean, I can understand grind if they wanted a subscription (keep people on for longer and all that) but they don't. Boggles my mind, or do people actually enjoy grinding (apart from Asians, who love it apparently).

It is a bit baffling how bounty hunting and combat bonds do not contribute to your rank. Especially combat bonds. You'd expect that to be the #1 way to rank up in a military navy...

Destroy 1,000 enemy ships - 0% reputation increase.
Deliver Data to a nearby station between affiliated non military factions - 1% at Post Commander

Frontier Logic at work.

I ranked up in both Empire and Federation since 2.1. I have both a Cutter and a Corvette. It didn't seem all that bad to me. All I did was run delivery missions for a bunch of days, taking a break when I got tired of it. It was slow, but nothing like what you're saying. 4 hours a day should be more than enough to do one in a couple of weeks, I would guess.

This may not help you, but here's how I did my Federation ranking, for whoever it might help :)

I have about the same game time as you, and ranked up to Imperial Viscount in a week and a half of ranking effort, equivalent to Federal Lieutenant.
You get at least a 1% rank increase for each successful mission (promotion missions give you 4% I think). You need ~100 successful missions per rank.

If you do Bulletin Board Spamming, that's 5-6 hours gameplay and choosing paying missions will make you rich at the same time as you make rank. Donation missions are good, but they're few and far between and they don't buy you a Corvette.

The only problem is that the missions are very repetitive and I really do not want to be logging out and in to refresh the mission board often. I think that isn't the route of the problem, and that the real issue surrounds the actual ranking system

As said above, combat bonds and bounty claims should could towards your ranking if cashed in at a federation station. It would make a whole lot more sense as ellt

Superpowers ranking is so flawed right now that it is beyond quick fixes. I always assumed that we wouldn't get a semi decent ranking mechanic before they address the elephant in the room : how can I be king and admiral at the same time ? As for ranking speed, the missions are so boring we might as well buy our rank with credits, stackfarming skimmers and cz for EZ money and get done with it.

I'm not arguing with you. The system could be much improved. But my method in that video does not rely on logging off and on. I don't like doing that either.

I championed a military ranking revamp for quite awhile and then they said it was being revamped with Horizons. And in a way it was since the entire mission system was overhauled. But the basic core of how it operated remained the same.

Don't want to get my hopes up for this new revamp so I'm not disappointed again.

Wars, CGs and PP are so detached from Naval ranking, it's not even funny. That shouldn't be the case.

For reference:

Hundreds of hours, maybe 1000 hours, logged since august 2015 and I'm at squire and Lt. Commander.

800 hours here in my old' conda. Unfortunately I've pushed back ranking for too long so it is hitting my like a truck now. Stuff needs to change for the better or those Corvettes/Cutters won't be popular. No wonder why they don't have paint jobs for the corvette - nobody actually spends the time getting one anymore :(

I am not sure about rich these days - myself not seeing data missions over 30k now, cargo missions are worth much less than they were.

Hardly ever "grinded" in this game, maybe twice up to 2.1 for credits or whatever on a short 2 day or at most 4 day period.

Since then I've twice set out to grind, once for Fed/Emp rank, once for engineer unlocks (not level ups) getting local faction rep.

I personally want the option to supply bounties/exploration data etc to factions which are not the controlling faction. There's a few engineers where you have to eternally re-roll the bounty board as the faction really hates giving missions. Fed/Emp is somewhat managable as there's so many minor factions you can get missions from without having to do 40 re-rolls for 5 missions.

I agree something must be done. Maybe those paradoxical Rep +++ missions that don't yet exist :D

On the subject of rank building, does anyone know that know they have nerfed the data and cargo ranking missions in terms of value - do said missions
have the same effect on the rank they earn. Or is this driven by value - or indeed rank/class level of the mission ?

at mid rank each mission gives 1% or lower. its a painstaking grind.

i dont know whether it was brought to this level to remedy people stacking missions in far away systems and running circles in between two systems and ranking up fast, but things being as they are it forces you to go that route and do the gamey grind yourself too.

otherwise it would take ages to rank up and get the ship you need to progress, for you require to have a rank to get a ship after the mid-level. you can either get a fas, dropship or imperial clipper after ASP explorer or wait until you can get a python etc, which is at 50 million tier.

So you have to grind a rank to get a 20 million tier ship.

AFAIK, Those missions pay very little but still have the same <1% rank bonus
