Engineers stifles the game.

Just been reflecting on my game experience recently and since Engineers launched my combat rank has gone up 1% with the other 2 not much better.
Simply put Engineers has totally ruined my game experience. I no longer login and enjoy a fly around, it's all about chasing around for rng materials which without doubt is the worst addition so far.
It may seem a wonderful system for the devs but rng is just a cheap way of getting content into the game with minimum effort. Is there a problem to hard code missions which are triggered by reaching a certain level, perhaps that's just too much work.
The motivation to login to refresh the mission board or spend mindless hours in super cruise hoping some random item will spawn is rapidly wearing away my interest here.

Take not devs, this game is one huge disfunctional dice roll.

Was gonna make a post along the lines of "inb4 the 'FD can do no wrong' crowd arrives", but I see they've beaten me.
Nobody said that the game or FD was perfect. We just said if you don't want a grind then do something else instead of forcing yourself to do something you do not enjoy.

The fact that you actually (or did you?) read our posts and somehow came to the conclusion that we were saying FD was perfect is positively embarrassing on your part.

I think you need to post less and lurk more if this is how you are going to join conversations. Some key advice for when you start lurking again, staying on topic and not making up arguments nobody ever argued for are considered good ways for people to take you seriously.

Settle down, the Op is just trying to fit in around here.

Why are you flying around chasing RNG materials? What is so GOOD about engineers that forces you to ignore the rest of the game.

No one likes grinding. So stop trying to argue that everyone else loves it.

My assumption is you are trying to beat the game. You are trying to get *the* best ship in the game. Maxed everything.

It's just not necessary. All of the ships operated fine without engineers.

I think you need to be more specific with your activities and your ship loadouts. You cannot have a ship that does everything well.

Invent a long term goal, and then decide how to achieve it. THEN you can decide which ship you need, and what mods will make it more effective.

That gives you direction and motivation to enjoy the gameplay that you are trying to skip.

Don't try and engineer a multi purpose ship.

Ps if you have no experience in engineers.

Step one. Use Srv to surface hunt for carbon, nickel, phosphorus and sulphur. Maybe for 1-2 hours.

Step two, Take your A rated modules to felicity farseer.

Step three. Use minerals to upgrade fsd thrusters and powerplant by 10%.

Walk away and enjoy you newly.modded ship.

If you liked that outcome....keep going with engineers.

If you don't, then walk away and don't touch engineers again. Bonus tip you can now dispose of the useless mission rewards.

Always remember there is nothing in the game that requires a engineered module. Absolutely nothing.

(Except those specialized cargo racks to carry unknown artefacts, but I doubt you need those.)

Seems to me when you start the game its a grind getting the ship you want and A rating it. So whats different here?
The above made you grind for credits. Now its visiting different aspects of the game to gather materials.
Whats even better is you get to shore up any inherent weaknesses in your chosen ship.

If anything engineers doubled my interest in the game.

These people who like to say "You suck, I on the other hand, am more skilled than you and therefore more successful", are really just sucking up to the devs.

There is a certain type of Oneupmanship player who just cant resist scouring the forums for complaints and de-validating them no matter how cogent they may be.

They are not offering help or advice just taking pleasure from your misfortune. Putting themselves up by putting other ppl down, as they say.

These guys always have a very large signature telling everyone how clever they are.

Oh look. More people incapable of reading.

tl;dr: I will defend FD against any and all criticism and dump on anyone that points out broken, suboptimal, or plain not fun game mechanics, but I am in no way shape or form saying that FD is perfect. Those things are completely different. Completely.

[rolleyes]

Spare me.

I didn't think much of the engineers at first but then for a while I had no games to play so I got into it a bit while watching movies on my other screen so meh I guess it's something to do. Then came the time I wanted to do some level 5 stuff I hadn't the mats for and they were so elusive it pretty much broke the game for me. Go do something else they say, well no, been there done that. I have well over a thousand hours in Elite so I have my moneys worth and will check in as it continues to update as I have the season pass but Engineers meh, 2.2 meh.

You wanted to do some level five stuff? But now game is broken because you couldnt figure it out.

Care to elaborate?

Or just trying to feel superior to all of us other idiots who continue to play?

Agreed. enigneers added a lot of gameplay thats simply wasting my time and frustrating my gametime by rng upon rng upon rng. Unlike powerplay you cant afford to ignore it, because npcs have been increased in difficulty and cheat the game mechanics by resspawning fully repairec and having impossible jumpranges.

As a beta backed since KS I feel fully entitled to voice my criticism here on the forums. I wont be discouraged by the devpleasers.

Guardians seemz to be a good update so far though!

You made an agreement with FD not to denigrate anybody in this forum. Desist NOW with the personal insults or I will report you to the moderator.

That wasn't an insult. It's an observation, and it seems accurate to me.

If you took offence. It's probably because the shoe fits.

Translation - Anyone who enjoys the game as it is must be wrong

just wish blowing up ships was enough to get all the materiel needed to modify the weapons/shield/jump drive/r hull if the npc is running the same mod your gunning for.

that said its my only complaint so far besides the bugged cg.

List of things I don't like/I feel need to be changed:

1. Ship balance

2. Naval rank

3. Powerplay

4. loading times/mission board

5. Don't even get me started on ship transfer and how I felt about there being a delay/stupid high costs.

6. Stupid crime system

7. Terrible combat AI

8. Original Engineers grind

9. The mind blowing decision to not show planet surfaces after an ADS me off.

10. The lack of an actual economy

11. Ship balance, why. Just why. This really gets on my nerves. Look at the gunship's optional modules...WTH. Or the position of the large on the Corvette. Or the Keelback.

12. mission payouts

13. PP making it stupid to bounty hunt because you have sixteen ships after you as soon as you jump in an RES.

14. Constant interdictions for every little thing.

15. The horrendous lack of attention to exploration in comparison to everything else.

16. The near year long silence on the Xbox side for anything important.

17. unbalanced job payouts.

18. God mod FD with CG's that they decide to mess around with because some people on the forums cried.

19. Their inabillity to create CG's that make sense. Like the current ones, Fed is horizons only but empire gets everyone? Yeah, that's fair. Great thinking. Or bounty hunting in a system with no RES. Or a combat CG that has no conflict zones.

I could go on and on and on.

Quote me, word for word. WHERE I SAID ANYTHING about FD being perfect? I didn't, I just said you didn't grind if you didn't want too. .

How about you spare me from your ignorance and you try your hardest to learn how to read before responding to people? You did see what I said about lurking more right? Get to it kid.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I looked in the agreement for anything that said "Like I care" and found it right under "Go for it".

Because it was an observation more then an insult. Anyone who read what I said and comes to the conclusion that I said FD was perfect deserves to be told that they need to pay more attention to what was actually said rather then making up imaginary arguments.

So as I said, go for it. I'm sure my aggressive tone is more then enough to get a warning from the mods. That should make you happy right?

Wow this thread has been ignore list happy for me. Can't see half the posts and added a few more people I frankly don't want to engage with ;)
Anyway I think I get the gist of this thread and will throw my 2p in and unsubscribe as it's already        g toxic here.

For me there are 2 problems with Engineers:
1) Mission only materials. There's nowhere to go to find these, its 100% luck. Everything else has clues and a place to go to look.

2) Faction ranking/permit engineers. I get why but it's a pain, it really is.

General material gathering and stuff is fairly easy with the exception of point 1, I can pick any one material/data and have 5-10 of it in my hold within 2 hours or so if I do the research. Most of them can be gotten in decent numbers within 20 minutes (the whole thing about arsenic confuses me, it's really not that hard to find imho).
Anyway they are my thoughts on this, if we had something like an engineers mission board with more chance of commodity rewards and more missions available but worse credit payouts that'd be a start so we have somewhere to go and hope instead of re-rolling forever.
