Posting this in the main forum because I wanted as much eyes on this as possible so we get a fairly 'accurate' idea here.
Feel free to discuss reasons below. :)

No poll needed. We all* know that it's flawed and needs a rework. Even FD is aware of that.

*: Except some pain-resistent and/or masochistic people who actually like it

Poll unnecessary.

PP is a bolt-on boardgame that you can't win. And not a good boardgame either.

PP promised much but ended up delivering little. IIRC it was an attempt to help foster the feeling of a living galaxy, a direct way to influence the BGS, but the result was pretty much the opposite: a dry and 'gamey' MMO clan-esque system that, fortunately, players could safely ignore without losing out on much.

PP needs to be reworked from the ground up. Merely tweaking will not save it.

(DNA testing will likely reveal that RNGineers is the malformed offspring of PP; both suffer from very similar characteristics.)

I actually love powerplay even though it's in a dire condidtion, it has the potential to be so much more, heres a few things I'd like added...

- Ranking - 'Harmless' through to -> Federal Agent / Imperial Agent / Alliance Agent - Privileges: Better powerplay missions (See below)

- Powerplay rank should be displayed when scanned.

- Powerplay missions based on powerplay ranking (See above) - Missions that will directly affect a system, Reward in cash and merits.

- Wing Bonus in powerplay for merit farming in whatever form, maybe an extra 5 merits per action for people in a wing.

- Open PP bonus, people playing powerplay in open should get 25%-50% bonus merits.

Dammit! Voted too quickly. Voted 1 when 3 or 4 was what I should have voted.

Now I like the general idea about Power Play, but as been noted in so many threads it needs some love and work. And more stuff into it for all level of play.

It is what makes the galaxy live a bit - if we take it away it will be less...

Voted for revamp.

It added needed much flavoring to the galaxy, but it needs to blend in with the rest of the game. Now its an almost completely separate board game that can never be won or lost. Also it needs "fluff". Fluff might not seem important as first glance, but it actually is. Seeing Admiral Patreus armada of battleships parked around some expansion system station, or the blue princess mothership parked around a Coriolis while she is delivering an anti-slavery speech, etc would add a lot to make the galaxy feel much more alive, and increase the feeling that powerplay characters are not just mere postcards.

tie the powers to specific system factions !

only the big ones of course. xx(10?) systems under one any local factions control, automatically promotes the local faction to a power.

The concept has not grabbed me enough to bother with it. So I have never signed up to a Power and can't say I ever will. It would be unfair for me to dismiss it by saying I do not like it. So yes a not bothered option may be worth it.

One thing I will say, is that it feels many 'played' powerplay purely for the end module/weapon rewards which to me actually devalues what it is purporting to be.

I tried it for a while, kept up with faction plans etc.

Tedious gameplay with no actual obvious or meaningful impact on anything in the game world.

Great idea, badly needs to be overhauled into something actually fun.

I really wanted to like it and I've been grinding away at it for a few weeks. I've gotten to Rating 4 but I just don't get it. It's complicated, boring, and there was no real incentive for me to carry on. I'm nominally pledged to the Alliance, but I don't see what the point is to be honest.

I've never tried it. I'm afraid to say that the whole idea of pp never appealed to me, and it's not clear how much it would have to change or how, for it to interest me.

Fiddled with it a bit in beta, went "this is boring" and never touched it since. I think the core idea is decent but the mechanics need a total rework.

Im with the empire but i dont know why (get 1.000 Cr every week for nothing lol)....powerplay need more playerbased interactions, like permanent galactic wars to take over systems.
Destroy cargo ships to cause civil unrest or civil war, for now it seems it doesnt have any impact on locals.
A real proper designed headquater would be nice, a giant spaceport city.
Special powerplay related missions would be cool, those undermining or expanding stuff is kinda boring.
The entire economy should be community driven.

Some tweaks. Powerplay should stay a different game-style then BGS nursing. It could and should be the part of the game that makes pvp-and competitive mulitplayer crowd happy.

Definitly better ingame communications throughout the game are needed.

- Message Boards in the Control Systems and HQ of the powers
- Message Boards for "minor" factions

Communication between players doing BGS stuff and players doing powerplay should be possible ingame for better organicing and developing ingame strategies, events and more organiced gameplay.

Especially with the fragmented dimensions we live in (game-modes, instancing) people dont't see each other ingame - so they should at least be able to communicat through messageboards to try to make a meeting ingame or cooperative or competitve gameplay possible.

I voted to get rid of it.

But that's not to say there aren't parts of it that I'd like to keep.

I liked:
1. The story component and news items all in one space.
2. The ability to see the factions in the map.
3. The introduction of system "States".

I disliked:
1. Crap missions.
2. Crap board game.
3. Crap Incentives.
4. Aligning myself with a particular faction then getting hunted down like a      if I ever went into another faction territory even if that faction was aligned with the same power and I wasn't causing anybody any harm. (Jeez, if the real world acted like that, I'd never vote for a local MP). This made sense across powers, but across factions... nah.
5. Makes the whole universe feel inorganic.

And that last point is my main problem with it, generally, the entire background Sim should be easier to manipulate. You should be able to make a difference in any system for any local system faction (which may or may not be aligned to power faction) you wish to support and systems where a powers sphere of cultural influence can be felt would have a mix of Imperial and Federation factions.
If a faction rests control from another faction of the same power this may cause a civil war depending on (enmity I guess?).
If a faction rests control from another faction of a different power this would cause flash point between Federation and Empire (And sh*t gets serious).

... and gaining influence with a faction should be bloody easier. Give us more missions! More incentive! INCENTIVE!! Can't iterate that any more.

You simply shouldn't have to play the "PowerPlay" boardgame to change the universe - its just not fun.
