Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I'm still puzzled by the rotating 'thing' below the ancient pillars. It only happens at the ancient pillars and nowhere else. Using the debug cam to go below the surface to see for myself after the reports earlier in this thread.

Anyone any ideas what it is? graphical glitch or something else?

Someone suggested when devs add a sound, they can attach it to an object and move that object around to create an effect, and that is all this is.

Not the nicest answer really but seems realistic, especially since there's no way to observe it without using the debug cam.

Like the ones in Rizal's landing pad picture on the front page. I did notice last night on the small isolated ones around where the walls had been destroyed that there appeared to be some markings (don't want to say drawings) in a slightly different colour tone to the rest of the object. There was enough of a difference for me to notice it, but I didn't see anything that really stood out, although I didn't spend too long looking.

Yes, precisely. The buried parts have some markings too, but they're different than those that appear on the black surface. Could be my imagination though.

Top tip!... thanks :)

Ah sorry, your right...... but in system panel it also says.....
This material is used by engineers when building upgrades.

Anybody found an engineer who wants/uses these? INARA isn't showing any appropriate blueprints as yet

Looks somehow strangely and curiously familiar.

(The spectrogram)

Looks like the outline of v shaped ship at speed... maybe FTL speeds... whow knows.

I do believe some of these large metallic structures have doors and the raised berms have tunnels buried under them. You bet that this is the first place I'll visit when first person comes out.

Hi peeps,

Still reading up do i dono if it's already posted, but..

The pillars that pop up out of the ground can be found with the srv scanner. They show up on the upper half.
Once scaned or erected they disapear from the scanner, that is all exept the one in the large open courtyard.

Bug, significant?

Something has been bugging me since yesterday about this picture.

I noticed when I flew over the 2 large overlapping craters, that it *appears to me* that the big of the 2 craters was created later than the smaller. That isn't supposed to happen. All overlapping craters are usually (always?) smaller impacting on top of the bigger crater. IRL and it appeared to me that this had been followed by E|D.

Anyone see this the same or am I mistaken?

Right, I have been flying around Asterope for the last two hours, even went out as far as Asterope B & C... Surely if there were a signal source to spawn it would have done so by now?

I have had one degraded emission signal source and that's it.

I'm starting to doubt whether it's in the game at all. There's only so many places it could be in this system based on where the Cobra is. I must have come within range of the USS by now.

That's assuming it's even a USS and FD want to make us randomly drop out of SC into it instead...

I usually expect you guys to find things quickly, it's when you don't that I start to worry :) Besides this is just the first step...
Michael
was there any in-game way of finding it, or was the video leak intentional? kinda hoping to see some hints in the game itself, or is that irrelevant now and is scrapped?
