what do you think of 2.2?

[Elite Dangerous] is an immense Galactic sandbox, the biggest game world in history.
The size of NMS does not invalidate my claim that with their pew-pew updates like 2.2, FD are missing the opportunity of a lifetime to make a sandbox space exploration game.
No. It invalidates your claim that E:D is the biggest game in world history.

Yes you're right. Which illustrates precisely my point: FD should be releasing updates which include more exploration content and options. Just for players to be able to place something themselves.
It's not unique to exploration. I would like to see them fix and enrich all of the content they have already put out more than I would like to see more (half-done) content added.

Erm, you gave a list of 'major changes' which included all of the changes, and I already quoted it:
I was contrasting them with changes like "fixed bug where sometimes blue sign would appear more greenish" or "fixed where names of crew would repeat" and such.

Maybe I'm missing something apart from my modded 3D Shield Generator. But I'm at the Founder's World. Everything is available. And if I'm missing a trick with the game mechanism for module storage it's because it's not been explained at all, and the feature is already known to be catastrophically bugged. Navigating three or four or five or six nested menus you haven't seen before, trying not to activate a catastrophic bug, trying to discover why the option to store one module is missing when the option to store another module isn't, is not as immediately intuitive as a single menu panel with every option - Buy, Sell, Swap, Store, Transfer - already on it where you can see straight away whether or not an option is absent, even if there is no explanation whatever of why the option is absent. FD obviously expect some dedicated player to write them a comprehensive professional-quality game manual, for nothing more than a pat on the back in the newsletter. Module storage is a great idea for sure, but as far as I am concerned for now at least it is just something else to avoid.
Yea: I'd raise that as a bug. I've seen no mention from FD that these modules were to be exempt.

Oh good. I'm glad to hear that. There are a number of posters here enthusing about how much they love 2.2, so when you replied to my original post contradicting me I assumed you were one of the believers, and replied to your post as a representative of them. Thanks for clearing that up.
I'll regularly argue points I disagree with even if they favor a position I don't share.

For me trying out all of the features of 2.2 has been a complete waste of time, and having tested them and been disappointed and frustrated by them, obviously I'm simply not going to use any of them now and save time in future. Apart from the interaction on the forums and the wasted time 2.2 is totally irrelevant to me. I really can't see how FD can ever make 2.2 good, and AfaIac they have completely wasted our money and their good programming time on it.
Fix module storage, un-nerf delivery missions, add cargo storage, and make ship transfers free, instant, or both. Then you'll have an update that might be underwhelming to some, but will certainly not be "bad".

I've had time to see the route keeping in action a couple of times. So I can't target the previously selected route when I log back in and that's a bummer, but the galaxy map is opening faster than it has of late and zooms right to the destination star. Neat-o.

I'm not sure why I didn't try that in Beta. I was more interested in passengers And crew I guess, which I do like quite a bit. I'm still interviewing crew, only intend to take one on board so they have to be the perfect candidate.

You are glad to hear someone is unhappy about something? You really want people to dislike 2.2? Sounds... healthy.[where is it]

Yes of course I want people to dislike 2.2, because 2.2 sucks and FD need to know that players are unhappy about it or else they won't do anything about it and that would be unhealthy, just as happily cheering FD on as they fail is unhealthy.

What? I did a Skimmer mission last night. They are spawning just fine. You just have to search around for POI around the base... y'know, actually play the game.

Then you were lucky that time. It's a multiple reported issue. Sometimes no skimmers spawn at the target. Just do a title search for 'Skimmer Bug.'

I didn't even go to the base itself at all. I found them all at POI between 8-20km from the base.

Right now I still can't say. I've finally gotten in to play on my main account. Had to use another pc to actually download the files and copy them over to my main rig. Honestly... They need to fix the mission system soon because regardless of all the cool stuff they've added, it's killed my gameplay with it as it is right now.

The features they added are cool and all but I haven't booted up my game since the Tribute to Walter CG wrapped up because I can't do what I want to do. So right now I'm just waiting for a patch that straightens things out so I can get back to smuggling again

Okay. I would like to say "have fun!" but I am not sure if it works in this peculiar context. So I'll play it safe and say:"Have emotions!"

Reading the threads on v2.2, my issues have all been discussed already. However, I felt I needed to add my voice on one point, which is related to my main playstyle:

The current courier missions payouts are unsustainable.

I started playing on Horizons, and I'm a very casual PvE player. Prio to the update, playing in the few hours I could spare, I was able to buy and outfit a new ship, and exploring on my trips was a lot of fun. With the new mission payouts, none of that would have been possible - and something like buying a bigger ship, which before seemed like a possibility, has dwindled to very unlikely. I'm lucky I still had about 400k surplus funds left, at least I can pay for small repairs!

I'm quite hopeful this will be fixed. Until then, I'll fly around aimlessly a bit.

What do I think? It's awesome! There's so many things I really appreciate, and I haven't even tried ship launched fighters yet. :)

That's the bug in action. You get a destroy skimmers mission but the skimmers are 20k from the base in an unknown direction. You just serendipitously drove right into them.

No, I used a spiral search pattern in my ship and dropped down to investigate Places of Interest to be sure of eradicating the entirety of my opposition with extreme prejudice. Clearly, the base skimmers go out to salvage valuable crash sites. The bases have permanent turrets for perimeter defense.

It's the damn GAME in action, boyo.

I have never completed one of those missions by going to the base. Why would I when it's much easier just to find them around the base.

I dunno. Spent the last 3 evenings upgrading my new python. Have yet to try any new content. Saw some new stations though.

As of right now, my menus work much faster, the FSD takes slightly longer to Hyper Jump between systems (not too bad though), the Conda actually seems to be a bit more maneuverable, and the fighters are smooth as butter, especially the Imperial. So all in all so far, I am thoroughly enjoying the update.

Witchspace is gorgeous.

Enjoying a new Orca and passenger missions.

Haven't tried fighters yet.

But the game is not stable, quite a few soft locks and crashes. Sure it will get better with minor patches.
