Thoughts after trying figter bays FDev pls read.

first of all, brilliant!! really well done and a real game changer!

now, a few things. spent 4hrs in a res site with my combat fitted cutter, i decided to let my crew fly her while i had fun in the fighter - let me just say that was the best 4 hrs ive spent on ED in ages and thanks for continuing to add great features :) there are a few things that would really enhance the experience.
1- no kill warrent scanner in the fighters!!?
2- my crew ran out of ammo for the muliti cannons and didnt tell me :( ( had to discipline her ;) )
3- when in formation, could you please change it so the crew flys a little above and infront so you can actually see them.
4- sexy voices, ooooo we need sexy voices
5- might be pushing it but skimpy clothes :p

overall a great experience and works very well, great work - keep it comming this game is awesome!!

i play in VR so yeh i agree. the hold position wasnt working for me last night but tonight it worked every time so not sure whats goin off there..
 
Rep for a good belly laugh at the end; that's a little much to ask for though, sexy voices and such. Would take away from the simulation of the game for me...unless you're in an anarchy system at an extremely questionable establishment. :p

Anyway, I agree that the dynamic that fighters add, as well as the pure joy of flying in one is exceptionally gratifying. Let's see if the enjoyment holds up, because I'm already seeing the horizons fill with complaints and it's gonna take a lot of guardians to see it defended. Sorry for the terrible pun, had to do it. :D

Above and in front would be a terrible place, there is a reason later ships were designed to have there good hard points on top. They should be at a 45 degree angle behind one of your wings instead. That is something that you should just get used to.

i hope my corvette can launch two little friends soon... would be great if i can get 4 of them out of the door.

so i can call them willy dilly, pity, and milly.
 
You lucky person I have spent 2 days looking for fighter bays in the empire high tech worlds

I now think they don't exist and are just in the federal zone !

So travel to fed space... There should be plenty in empire space however.
Founders world has them if you have access. If not try Gamow Gateway at ROSS 775. I know they have them there.

Yeah, more white knights to defend an extremely buggy release in which half the things that were reportedly fixed, weren't. Clearly, defending FD's ineffective QA testing is going to work out well for the game in the long term.

not gonna happen. been discussed before a lot. military issue corvette can deploy 2 fighters, when civilian (civilian warship duh) corvette can deploy only one. it's been corrected in ships description as well.

so, sorry to disappoint you, but there is very little chance (0,000000001%) that we will be able to deploy 2+ fighters any time ssoon..
 
Yesterday I used SLF for the first time. In a combat zone.

Mostly I relaunched those things as they got destroyed within seconds after they engaged a hostile.
They are a good distraction for smaller ships.
Maybe I should have hired a pilot that is higher ranked than "Harmless" (already 44% on the way to "mostly harmless").
Not sure how long my mothership would survive with the NPC at the helm.

It's interesting gameplay and it probably needs some time to learn how to use the fighters most effectively.

depends how tough your mother ship is, my cutter can take just about anything on while taking fire from a few smaller ships. i flew the fighter, didnt lose it once in 4hrs, they tend to attack the bigger ship.
 
I think some of the voices are already pretty sexy. But I would like to hear more tongue in cheek remarks with double meaning, if you know what I mean. ;)
 
Oh #1 is a good point.

When I go to a HazRes I'll always take a KWS.

It means if you're in the fighter you're looking at a decent drop income.

Not sure what the solution is though.

For me the biggest issue with SLF is :

6 - Tether range.

The fighter is an awesome tool for planet skimming, the trouble is with your typical exporation vessel, you'll boost away and within a minute or so you're at the limit. Which makes it somewhat unuseable.

Sure you can add better thrusters to your mothership, but all that does is increase a very small amount of time by say 30%, to what is still a very small amount of time.

It's a huge stifler to the enjoyment of just flying and a real shame.

Again I'm not sure what the solution is, I'd say allow players to dismiss the main ship to orbit like with the SRV but having the mothership present may well be some balancing factor.

Yeah they are brilliant, also a huge amout of fun in VR. My only gripe is the hold position function seems to be broken. I have reverted to disabling thrusters on the mother ship if I want it to stay put far outside of the combat area.

I take ages setting up the right position for me bloody Conda for a screenie, launch the fighter, get in position and the bloody needy Conda feels it has to make eye contact with me constantly or else it'll get scared. Disable thruster. Brilliant!
 
It doesn't sound to me like OP cares much about having a fighter pilot NPC, he wants a harem. Not gonna happen in this game. Sexy clothes? Geez.

actually.. points 1,2 & 3 are serious, not having a KWS in the fighter is loosing us loadsa bounty, and when the mother ship runs out of ammo it would be nice to know also the formation could be better imo.

the rest was just abit humour, i bet your a barrel of laughs!!
