Horizons SRV - Ship Self-Dismissed??

I was on a planet surface trying out 2.2 to see if the wave scanner is working properly (it's not), when I thought I saw the ship fly away.

A little while later I could no longer see the ship on the sensors, and when I went to the page for dismiss/recall the ship, it said RECALL.

Does the ship self-dismiss if you drive a certain distance?

It's 2 kilometers.

Edit: btw. don't let your ship sitting on the ground, unattended, especially if you have cargo on board. You could very easily lose her.

Indeed, auto-dismiss is a security measure.
I have encountered pirate ships roaming planet surfaces several times.
I even got attacked by one when I was in my SRV. I just made it back to my ship.
